I don't know too much about Oppo, but all speakers and 7.1 doesn't sound right with a Meridian setup.

It may also depend if using an HD621, I'm not sure if an HD621 can do the downmix.

I'm also not sure if "Downmix" generally means drop the side channels. And if it does it probably doesn't matter if it's 7.1 or 5.1. The Meridian will rederive them.
