Streaming could also be done from your own PC (or network-server) to your Home Theater setup, no high-speed internet required for that.

A nice combo-machine is the HDI Dune Center that is both a Blu-ray disc player, as also a network-streaming device (either wireless, or wired). With it's build-in harddisk, it also appears to be a HD-recorder and archiver and you can hook-up even more harddisks via 2 e-sata ports and USB-ports (region-free as well, by the way).
