Gary,
I did receive my Edge at home today with a very low charge paid (36,19). Bit late, but I must recognize a well managed job. I'm leaving for business the coming two days; I'll do my tests the next week-end.
Thanks Gary

Gary,
I've spent my time mainly setting up and configure the EDGE, replacing the HD+ and I've done roughly some tests, but not enough to express comments for the time being. It is seems that almost everything works apart a relevant issue which I'd like to set up before relax and to better listen to.
The issue is related to the audio inputs and output - no one of them work, no output from optical - FYI I don't see even any light on from that outlet, as it should be for the optical outs - the 5 audio inputs analog, digital and optical have no link with the HDMI out - only HDMI in to HDMI out work - it's seems all this audio section is dead.
Since I need to switch audio also to the TV when Home Theater is off, this function is important for me.
Any idea how to fix it Gary? - Does your mod. interferes with these?
Video section it`s O.K. even if I'm missing a bit the flexibility of the HD+. I've tested a couple of Blu-Ray - the Mod. seems work good, the audio from SPDIF in PCM goes correctly to Meridian G68, but always Music6 is selected. Any idea how to make G68 step on Movie6 which is what I prefer for my purposes? Thanks Ermanno

Any idea how to make G68 step on Movie6 which is what I prefer for my purposes? The Music6 thing is a limitation of any modded player, only the HD621 will do it correctly. But there are some work arounds I suggest in the wiki. Well not really work arounds but some things you should understand. http://www.meridianunplugged.com/wiki/index.php?pagename=HDMISolutions

Ermanno Some formatting is lost. But you want to manually setup a 2 Channel Phantom. Setup of Meridian preamp for 6 Channel SPDIF When using the 861v4 separated decoder+preset model (861v4, G6x, 568.2 with v2.5 firmware) You should use the "Cinema" preset with movie material. You should probably use "Cinema" with DD/DTS music material (TBC) You should use "Discrete" with lossless music (unless the disc clearly sounds bass-light). The Meridian 6 channel SPDIF inputs are treated as "Music6" and will therefore apply the Music speaker layout. The default "Music6" preset will be applied when the source is selected. This will be the "Discrete" preset unless changed in MConfig (so you should change it to Cinema or you'll lose 10db of LFE on Movies). Adding the Source with MConfig (Current Release for G68/861) Add a Generic DVD Player (this will be your modified BD Player). Choose OK (don't worry that it does not have the right connections) Choose No (Advanced) Choose Next (e.g. Leave it as Connect to G68ADV) Choose New button next to the From: Change Type to Multichannel Digital Change the From Dropdown Box to Multichannel Digital Optionally change the To dropdown to MD1, MD2 etc. Choose Connect Button Choose Finish Adding the Source with MConfig (Legacy for 568.2mm) Click on Setup Icon Enable "Meridian DVD present" Enable "Module Installed" Click on Source Icon Click on DVD At the bottom the Audio Input should say Multichannel. At the top make sure the box marked Source Exists is ticked Optionally add a Phantom for Two Channel Listening (e.g. SACD 2 Channel in Trifield) Right Click on new Multichannel DVD player you just added above Choose Create Phantom Choose the Assign Phantom to (e.g. CD) Choose OK Right Click on G68 Choose Properties Choose Sources Tab Select the Phantom device you assigned to above Change the "Main Audio Input" to First Coax of the Multichannel input (e.g. Change from MD1 to D1). To use Hit DVD on Remote for Blu-Ray and it will Default to Music6 and Hit CD on Remote for 2 Channel CD/SACD and it will Default to Music2.

When the input is "Music6", the default Music6 preset for the selected source is applied (whatever you've defined it as). However, after re-reading the manual, it appears that Cinema uses the "5.1" bass management speaker layout and Discrete uses the Music bass management speaker layout.

Thanks Ermanno Ermanno, concerning the audio this is how the unit works, the reason the optical audio section is shut off is because the Edge is setup for audio to be output via the "audio only" HDMI output, this is where the Gefen is connected so that the SPDIF mod works perfectly if you need optical output you will need to go into the setup menus and set the audio output to optical instead of audio only HDMI, but the mod no longer works after you do this thanks

thanks Gary, I knew that and it was clear to me, as I know how to deal with the processor in deep, but probably I wasn't clear on my e mail, because of course I've done my test with the audio out set to optical, but no way to get audio out alive, this is the problem. FYI, the normal listening at home is 80% non HT (audio from TV monitor and I made everybody, including my wife can easily operate). When I switch HT on, I can manage to switch between optical and HDMI out - these were my intentions, but for this the audio switch must work. Ciao Ermanno

The "cinema" option it's there. Do you mean that even though "Music6" bass-management is selected, the "Cinema" option applies which one of the "Movie 6" ? George, Thank you so much for your time and kind support. Cheers Ermanno

Ermanno. The following is from the G68 manual (my bold italics) There are four multichannel Music presets:
• Discrete, PLIIx Mus6, THX Music, and Ambisonics B format (discrete inputs only).
There are five multichannel Movie presets:
• Cinema, PLIIx Mov6, THX, THX Surround EX, and THX Ultra2 Cinema.
The multichannel Music presets all use the Music speaker layout and the multichannel Movie presets all use the 5.1 Movie speaker layout; see Speaker layouts, page 45.
Cinema The Cinema preset is recommended for listening to multichannel movie soundtracks when no further processing is required.
Discrete The Discrete preset is similar to Cinema, except that it uses the Music speaker layout and sets the LFE level to -10dB.
