First, checked = XMAS and unchecked = FIFO.
Second, XMAS turns of your FIFO de-jittering which you really don't want to do unless the source is so unstable it won't work with the FIFO buffering.
XMAS = eXternal MASter clock (I think). i.e. Using the jittery bits of the source for the clock. Not recommended. A little confused...lack of sleep last night...the understanding that I get from you post is to leave this unchecked...with that, is my interpretation correct? TIA

Here is an update on my HD621 config.
I have moved the Oppo BD and PS3 out from under the VP50Pro to directly into the HD621. I still have the TiVo, HD DVD and DVHS going into VP50Pro first and then into the HD621.
The Oppo and PS3 are progressive only at 1080p, so no lip sync issues to worry about.
I did have an odd issue where the video would just go black. It came out of nowhere. Eventually I swapped out the cable between the 50Pro and HD621 and all is well again. I had been using this cable for two weeks without a problem. Strange!
I rebooted and reset everything tracking it down.

I have changed my configuration to have my 2 HDMI sources connected directly into the HD621, rather than my VP50 first.
I have my CD player via TOSLINK direct into O1 on the 568.2MM. This works flawlessly.
When I tested my 2 HDMI sources with CDs, there is no sound after about 3 seconds if the HDMI video out on the HD621 is connected. Once the HDMI out is disconnected, sound is heard.
Does anybody have any suggestions how I can avoid disconnecting the video every time I want to listen to MHR audio only?

ESL-63, can you confirm that the Audio Output in the Audio Tab of the HD621 Properties is set to SmartLink/MHR and not Video HDMI using Meridian Config Program?

I see no-one has any solutions to avoid the need to disconnect the HDMI cable from the HD621 in order to play CDs, SACDs and DVDAs with HDMI output from the source. Presumably then you must alternatively keep your display on, which is wasteful and unnecessary.
BTW, I note that M does not specify the HDMI standard for the HD621. I hope it is 1.3, otherwise we cannot listen to the new lossless Dolby and DTS formats.

You should know what the heck your talking about before making a statement like that. Newer versions of HDMI do allow BITSTREAMING the newer codecs. But the HD621 BY DESIGN does not support bitstreaming the new codecs. You must decode these in the player for HD621 to take advantage. So 1.3 HDMI doesn't matter in that regard.

Obviously I do not know what I'm talking about - I wouldn't have asked the question otherwise.
