I have my setup as follows:One thing though, on a music BD, I get a continuous (obviously unlistenable) crackling noise if the DSP preset is changed to Ambisonics, but not with discrete or cinema. Any ideas? I could be wrong but I thoguht you could only use ambisonics on a disc that is specifically mastered for ambisonics of which there are very few. Thats true, but there is no logic to have a crackling noise.

I will be putting the HD621 after the VP50Pro and before the display because of the adaptive lip sync in the 50Pro. As I have stated, the amount of lip sync changes based on the content. (interlaced vs. telecine vs. progressive) I'm not a VP or HD621 person, but assuming that the VP is making a decision based upon content (interlaced vs. telecine vs. progressive), rather than source, surely the VP can still go after the HD621 since the content will remain consistent no matter where it is placed in the chain? IIRC that HD621 has lipsynch and can put its own source based delay in.

Hmm. Yeah I guess I'll have to play around with my config to see if I will have a need for that. I don't really do anything fancy with DSPs etc in my current set up. All two channel music is trifield, multichannel music is discrete, and multichannel movie is cinema. One point: I would have thought MRC is based on the room rather than the audio source. I don't use a projector so I didn't even know that you could specify something like screen position in the MRC profile. The screen position is NOT something that is specified in MRC but rather I did multiple MRC profiles / runs and I associate / load the one that is most appropriate...hope that helps...

Ian: I think that the issue -- at least with the Radiance as I am unfamiliar with the VP50 -- is the ability to use the Radiance's EDID controls / features to ensure that the proper audio and video formats are being received from the source which not work were one to put the HD621 before the Radiance...

Has anyone run their G98 and HDTV through the HD621 too? If so, any difference in playing CD's off of the HDMI cable?
Thanks, Ken

I could be wrong but I thought you could only use ambisonics on a disc that is specifically mastered for ambisonics of which there are very few. You are correct, but I could always use it with no problems on any CD in the past. The crackling noise has only arrived since I installed the HD621.

The VP50 maintains lipsync by adjusting the amount of audio delay. If you don't feed the audio into the VP50, it can't delay it.

The VP50 maintains lipsync by adjusting the amount of audio delay. If you don't feed the audio into the VP50, it can't delay it. Not in software yet, but according to the Lumagen guys, the Radiance, on the other hand, will soon have the ability to apply a small amount of *video* delay to the signal. It is likely that there will be a mode which fixes video delay at a fixed amount.
