John, being how thin the unit is I think I could actually fabricate some rack ears on the case itself and it would sit 1u in height

however the processing inside puts some heat out, so clamping it in a 2u shelf like this would make more sense, at under 30$ as well:

the unit looks weird from the front, but it is normal sized/shaped component
