I don't doubt better processing exists over what's built into kuro but at 50" with 720p/1080i/p would you really see that much difference at 10 feet? But it is about as sharp a marsh mallow roasting on fire!! Seriously the Kuro processing isn't all that, yeah the deinterlacing is OK, the scaling is OK, but there is more to a video processor than that. I have the 500M in front of me, which is like a combo of your 500M and Elite. Compared to the new Panasonic PF11 the Pioneer is lacking in many areas, I know the forums will have you believe it is the new Holy Grail, but it isn't really. It's good, very good, but I would take a Panasonic PF11 with an Edge over the Kuro everytime. I have both side by side at the moment and even my wife, who doesn't pay attention to my toys, thinks the Pioneer is 'blurry' in comparison. I am going to try and borrow an EDGE to see if it helps the Kuro, I will report back if it is of interest? I used the recommended settings from AVS and at first I thought is was soft but after I learned to get used to not over processing it I really like it. It's like watching a film and there are no pixels to be seen. Sharpness is very analogous to like listening to an overly bright speaker that demos well but over time it's fatiguing. I don't have any other reference side by side but it looks extremely good. Panasonic makes great sets too.

The vp is not free. If you compare to a octava. My thoughts are this might be the most stable HDMI solution as far as working with most sources and displays. Due to past reputation and volume of dvdo products. Will it allow playing audio with display off?

PCM data flows with no HDMI connection to either output needed, this is because of the dummy video signal always present on the audio only HDMI output
also if you connected and use the HDMI video output as I figure most will, it has not one single effect on the PCM data or the audio only HDMI output, this is because the Edge is setup in the menus to route all PCM and audio data to the audio only HDMI output which again need not be connected
no EDID crap to worry about if you connect any HDMI device in or out and no HDMI sync device needed, neither of these effect the PCM mod, it simply works at all times not matter what under any circumstance, as long as you are on a HDMI input and that source outputs properly decoded PCM via HDMI then the PCM data will be flowing from the 4x SPDIF output

To follow on from Jon's post, I think the next step is for Gary to confirm the mod is working and available to order

Agreed, it would be nice to confirm it can handle 5 (or 7).1 24/96 as well vs just 24/48.
If not for the Clux purchase it certainly is an attractive option if all goes as planned.

very very soon, good things to those who wait for sure I have actually offered 1 unit to a member here that contacted me, so he could talk about here and give feedback before the sale started, how does that sound? I am also thinking that if you guys can get 20 orders that I will draw one of the 20 people to get a 100% full refund, meaning a completely free unit, this is in addition to the 10+ discount price lastly, I have found that the Edge actually has a very nice clock installed in the unit, better than standard stuff, no need to upgrade the clock in my opinion thanks guys

I will be off to Mexico tonight, but back "on board" in two weeks (if I don't visit an Internet caf during that time). Probably more will be set about both the Oppo mod and this mod - and powerbuys - by then.
