If the upgrade is going to cost $2500 then can M at least consider putting that in a box that will look like a G series box? :-)
vk: i did not upgrade any of those and yet it still doesn't mean it's a good deal. also, way back then the audiophile game was a bit different, no? it is too much at $2500, irrespective of having overpaid in the past etc.
a@a: I'm not particularly happy with the upgrade cost either, I'm just not that surprised.
Audiophile20: If this box is Meridian's final say on HDMI then I would have expected a processor matching case (should M provide both G-series and 800-series cosmetic options?).
I respect completely Meridian's decision not to produce HDMI input cards for the processors, but I am concerned that the cost of a new eight-channel MHR input card (for the G68 in my case) is not included and is unknown at this time. I find it hard to believe that it would be less than $1000.
Someone asked why four coax MHR outs and not ethernet out instead. The HDMI box will have ethernet out as well. I did not get the impression that the matching ethernet in on the 861 would be available at the same time that the HDMI box becomes available.
Was there any mention of one or more 3x SPDIF inputs on the box for 861/G6x processor owners who are already using both inputs (or 568.2MM owners who are already using the MM input)?
We discussed this a couple of weeks back. I imagine that a VGA-style MM connector wouldn't go amiss either...
