Looked through those threads but didn't see much classical. Maybe this should be directed to Kal. Are there any fairly comprehensive lists of well performed and well recorded classical music out there? Back Stereophile or TAS issues perhaps?

Ken I don't know. Back when I was just a reader, I recall Stereo Review's basic Repertoire and several other mags periodically had lists. Now, I do not see such except for Stereophile's 'Records to Die For' (sic) and periodic TAS lists. Most of these are on the websites and also at the various outlets that proffer audiophile recordings. In the US, that includes MusicDirect, AcousticSounds and Elusive Disc; all have websites. Or you can see the listings with each of my columns. ;-) Kal

A Little off the wall but Music non the less to my ears; The Heavy Thunder and Rain recording available from Squeezenetwork Via Squeezbox and its variants, played Loud through Ambisonic. On a Hot summers day I can see myself lost in this with S.W.M.B.O. dusting my face with a fine mist off cool water to complete the effect. Try it, you may like it!! Cheers, Chris

Well , 'Lightbulb Sun' CD/DVD-A arrived and although Im already a fan I have to say Steven Wilson has really knocked it out of the park with this one . The set features the original 16-bit CD version ; the remixed CD version ; 24-bit stereo version ; dts and mlp 5.1 versions and three bonus tracks ( mlp5.1) from the limited edition ' Recordings' album . I was one of the lucky ones to also get the bonus CD with 2 extra tracks .
Great music , beautifully put together .

Hi all, You all have to check this one out. http://www.amazon.com/David-Gilmour...mp;s=music&qid=1214251526&sr=1-1Its David Gilmore from Pink Floyd performing in a small show. This is a DVD and was the very first DVD i heard my DSP5500's on and absolutely blows me away every time I listen to it. You can hear every slight detail. Simply amazing!!!! I actually listen to it without having the screen on on prefferably in the dark. You have to check it out if you can. Regards, Carl

As you can see from my avatar , Im a big Porcupine tree fan . If you are ever tempted to give them a try they have just signed a deal to start releasing their back catalogue via FLAC or MP3 downloads with accompanying artwork where required . Maybe worth a dip ? I just got the recent Sarah Brightman CD entitled Symphony- a nice blend of opera, rock, and pop. She does a duet with Paul Stanley for one track.
