That's probably a standard serial cable, you need to buy a Null Modem Cable. It would attach either to the USB/Serial converter or to the serial port of computer #2.

Thank you Ian and Toommypeters for your help.

I probably used a regular serial cable. I will try a null modem cable and I will post the results.

I uploaded the new firmware to my DSP 7000 speakers. NO sound, speakers respond to comms, but absolutely dead. Reloaded the old firmware and speakers are again working.

I tried to do my 596 late last night but could not.
It kept asking to turn power off and on, then nothing.

I wonder if anti virus is the problem, It was too late for me to think of this, I will try again soon.

Cheers Chris. smile

P.S. nice to know it is getting any support now.

I couldnt update this firmware, It just says access denied, or somthing similar.
I have the same computer set up and cable as I used to update 2 569's with V1.89.

What am I doing wrong? smile

I have a problem with my 568.1 - its running 1.55 and it just cannot do DTS frown I've only tried one recording, but that worked on my old 561. I've reloaded the firmware twice now. Is there older firmware out there that I could download and try?

Ok, I've just played Moulin Rouge from my DVD player, and its the same. The DTS light comes on, you can faintly hear the decoded soundtrack but its overwhelmed by garbled noises, like when you get digital dropouts on Sky or Freeview, but with much softer edges.

Try cycling power to your 568 and player if you have a 596 or 598.

I downloaded all the updated software to my trusty Win98 laptop (with real serial port!). I then successfully uploaded the new firmware to my G68 and G98 using WinFup and the appropriate .mfp files with no connection problems.

I thought I would then make a small change to my setup, loaded MConfig and tried a fetch from the G68. This resulted in an "access violation" causing a lockup.

I rebooted and disabled all the unnecessary programs (like virus protection, wireless connections ...) running on startup so just the basics were running. I then tried MConfig uploading my existing setup file with a similar result.

Another reboot and retry and MConfig produces the following message immediately you click on "Store G68XXV Settings" on the breadcrumb trail (you don't have to click Start):

"Access Violation 059a01a [trans_func=00427c40][error reading ffffffff]"

It never did this before. mad Fortunately my system still works OK (I think) but I can't update it by PC. Canb you roll back MConfig?
