I'll admit I just bought my (new to me) 210 streamer as a bit of a chronic illness/birthday boost to lift the spirits. Now I'm looking to make it do something useful.

I do have Roon and that should be fairly straight forward, but I'd like to have a few Internet radio streams too. And maybe podcasts and whatever else might be available. It's just a lack of meaningful manuals or guides on how to add sources, and then go about selecting them. I confess to being utterly baffled. I have streamed in the past via various Roku devices but this is in a different league.

Any pointers most welcome please.

In isolation, the 210 only has access to ‘Spotify Direct’.

If you require access to numerous internet radio stations Roon offers this in abundance.

Or, if you own a mobile phone or tablet, you can utilise Bluetooth to stream internet radio stations from your mobile device to the 210.

Just so I understand, If you have the 210 and a tablet or phone, you don't need Roon?

Also, I'm assuming that the 210 won't stream spotify all by itself, or will it?

The 210 supports Spotify Connect, so it will appear in the Spotify app and you can stream to it using your network (sporify will connect directly to the 210 and the app will be the remote)

For other streaming services etc you can use a third party app like M-connect which will use the upnp functionality supported by the 210.

I have a 210 too.

I do not have Roon (but never say never). You can use your phone/tablet etc. and connect to the 210 using bluetooth. This is not tbe best signal quality but it effectively can stream anything you have on your phone/tablet etc.

The "Spotify Connect" feature allows your Spotify App on the phone/tablet to "see" the 210 "natively". i.e. NOT bluetooth

As far as I can tell you currently can't get the "Spotify Connect" feature to play "lossless" but I must say that at the "Very high" quality is is pretty darn good.

The 210 can be a "Roon" end point so if you have a Roon Core then the Roon eco system can stream TO the 210. So whatever Roon supports as source can end up going TO the 210.

Today, if I were starting my system from scratch I would buy a Meridian 218 with a Sonos Port (and forget the Meridian 210).

Connected via coax to the 218 to bypass the Sonos Port's internal DAC.

It is made to work with Meridian 218/251.

The Sonos Port is capable of accessing Tidal, Qobuz, and Spotify plus a multitude of internet radio stations.

Controlling the Sonos Port is achieved via the same Meridian app that controls the 218.

I had a 210 and it sounded very good, but I never understood it didn't do tidal natively. At that time that was the only MQA source so Meridian should have added that. I just use Roon with my 218 and could not hear a difference between 218 and 210 with roon so I sold it.

Would it control through Spotify or the Sonos app, the same way you can control the system through Roon?
