New firmware for the DSP8000XE v 2.1.01, The DSP8000 Performance Pack v 1.1.01 and DSP9 v 1.1.01 is available. These have been demonstrated to provide a noticeable improvement in sound quality.
Minor changes to automation interface to improve phone application experience.
Faster relock and acquire for unstable audio streams.
FIFO continues to track while in mute.
Improved strategy for when source was set to Last Valid.
Volume ramp from standby.
Improvements to FIFO.
Improvements to delay buffer handling
Please note that this firmware installs a bit differently than some may have done previously as it requires a USB A to B cable. So read, understand, and follow the directions for installation.

Apparently it drew the attention of a visitor to Meridian and was struck by the “ improvement “ for DSP9 and who was not aware of the “update”!?

I’ll report my assessment once we have our speakers’ firmware upgraded.
Main: 861v8, 818v3, 8000XE, 7200HCUSE, 7200.2, Roon Nucleus+, Shunyata Everest w/ Sigma XC and Alpha NR's, HD621, Oppo 103D, Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma. RJ45 switch on master SpeakerLink lines to select 861 or 818, Etherregen & ENO AG feeding the 818, M-Links.

Best & simplest upgrade I made was fitting mains UltraFuses and internal SuperFuses in the 8k's from Russ Andrews!
DSP8000USE, DSP5200HC, DSP33, DSW1500, 808v5, 861v4, WiiM Pro+, Panasonic 55" Plasma, DMP-BDT700 Blu-ray,
MECOOL MEon1, Russ Andrews Signature Power Block, UltraFuses, SuperFuses, Kimber Signature PS Interfaces.

Hi,
l wish that was easily the case and l have parted with many a pound on “upgrades” but only when l can understand and hear the difference.
Mains is a good example e.g. clean, well earthed. There are many out there who “hear” the difference because they want to and many who don’t because they don’t want to. Usually governed by their finances and wants.
I have always felt the best listening source is well recorded classical music especially if you have been to such concerts and heard how music should sound. Most reviews l have read use examples of “pop” music which possibly impressive are not natural.
Whether you “believe” or not as long as you enjoy.
No doubt l shall have my DSP9’s “upgraded” as Meridian have never really failed since the beginning 😁

Our local preferred partner was able to travel to our home today and do the speaker updates. He had characterized the update as larger than the SE to XE step.
Yeah right.
Damn, he’s right. Imaging is amazing. Bass is kick ass. They sound like totally different speakers (in a good way). Happy camper here.
