My G65 ‘forgets’ main speakers, once every couple of weeks my system suddenly stops using the main speakers L+R.

Quick solution is go to wizard select speakers 7.1.

And then, it works all perfectly again.

Does anybody know what the issue is and how to solve this?

Are the speakers analogue or SpeakerLink connected?

Does this happen on first powering up, if you cycle the power (hard switch, not standby) does it correct itself?

Next time it occurs, put directly into standby and cycle through the cards present using display button, do they all register with an appropriate level of firmware (NOT 0000)?

If all is OK, select 'cal' mode and cycle through all speakers present, do they all produce the 'cal' noise?

This information will help to eliminate faulty cards or the usual 'G' series problem the PSU and everything associated with it!

G65 has a linear power supply by default, I would suggest doing a full reset of the unit and reflash the firmware.
See if that helps..

You are correct about that, it doesn't however, preclude power supply problems.

Easy stuff first, Ive accidently not seated SL connections more then once in my fury of tweaking the system. Are you running a single SL to the L/R speakers or home runs to L/R? is your G65 configured via menu or Mconfig?

I use analogue out (557) for LR and 556 (C)

No SL in use except from the UHD722 (v1)

Config in the past through config, but somehow I have difficulties measuring speakers. (Managed once successful, and after that only with menu.)

I will check the cards status next time.

My G65 was doing flaky things, and the cure turned out to be opening it up, removing cards (with appropriate anti-static precautions), cleaning the card contacts with isopropyl alcohol, then re-seating all the cards. It worked wonders for resolving a range of odd issues. Hope this helps!

While it does sound a little suspicious that selecting 7.1 via the wizard fixes things, I would definitely check the speakerlink cables.

My own G65 caused me a lot of headache with speakers suddenly not saying anything, turned out to be a faulty speakerlink cable that had a kink in it. Replacing it with high quality CAT6a with real copper conductors was the solution, always avoid copper clad aluminum cables as they are prone to cracking and all sorts of other fun issues you can spend weeks scratching your head.

EDIT: did not see the reply the stated you only use the analogue out. My bad. Then I am out of ideas.

Use mconfig to do your setup and then store a user type. This can be recalled from the front panel without connecting a pc or using the wizard should the g65 have a senior moment again.

All analog here. Never had an issue with my G65, yet. It is a wonderful sounding unit. Got a great deal on mine from Bruce a few years back

Reset and reloading with config deels to fix the issue (so far)
