Hi,
Just noticed a rather poignant article in the new Aug 25 Issue of Stereophile concerning a man and his M speakers.
The article (by Rogier Van Bakel) called “Final Delivery” is in the “My Back Pages” slot of the magazine.

I read this article today and agree it is very well-written.
For those without access to Stereophile, the article references an owner's Meridian DSPs (and presumably an upgrade to SEs) and the joy the system brings. It is a touching piece.

Indeed, it is a compassionate, poignant, and bittersweet story.
Contrast that with a retailer that impressed on me the extent to which they are a business and not a charity. A terminally ill customer had purchased one of their most expensive products. They duly delivered and calibrated the product at the customer's home.
When the customer subsequently asked for an adjustment on the product the retailer responded that while the initial calibration was free of charge they would have to charge several hundred pounds to return.
No compassion. None.

Compassion and empathy for your clients can be a great quality to find in a dealer. Just yesterday I had forgotten a last minute service call in the morning chaos and ended up being a hour and a half late. After spending three hours re configuring the system when I was finished the client asked what the bill would be. I told her that since I was late and wasted her time, I could not in good conscience charge her. She insisted on paying something, so we settled on a hug.
