Hello all

I have ordered one of these It should be here hopefully in August...

"The Nuprime-X H16-AES is a high-performance HDMI audio decoder featuring AES3 (AES/EBU) digital audio output for integration with professional audio systems."

Specifications:

Audio Format: PCM, up to 24-bit/96kHz
Dolby TrueHD supports up to 24-bit/96kHz
DTS-HD Master Audio supports up to 24-bit/96kHz
Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos support 24-bit/48kHz

Inputs: 4 x HDMI, HDMI eARC

Outputs: 16 channels AES3 on two DB25 ports (H16 decodes Dolby Atmos up to 9.1.4)

HDMI eARC

Im hoping that with the right DB25 to RJ45 adaptor / cable I can just plug this Nuprime into the MMHR socket on my G65 and replace my HD621....

MMHR will support up to eight channels… will this suit your needs … will be interesting to hear your feedback once you have the unit.

Edit: six channels on your G65 apparently

At first yes 6 channels is fine. I will set the Nuprime to decode to 5.1.

If everything works like I think / hope it does with this box then in the long term I'm thinking I will either get another G65 or 861v8 for 12 or 14 channels of dual processor madness.

Again with the right adaptor / breakout cable I believe you could connect this Nuprime direct into DSPs for a minimalist system.

I’ve found this on the forum :

MMHR pinout;

CH 1/2 - orange pair
CH 3/4 - green pair
CH 5/6 - blue pair
CH 7/8 - brown pair

It may help, the pinout for the DB25 is on AES outputs guide of the manual.

That’s pretty interesting! Maybe M could repackage it with comms as a replacement for the UHD722.

It looks interesting for someone with an Altitude32 (with AES/EBU input).

I now have a custom made db25 to 4 x xlr digital cable which I attached some neutrik impedance converters.

I going to connect the Nuprime to MD1 on my G65. That way I can also create a 2 channel input for the Nuprime.

Revised shipping date of August 25. So will be September until I receive it.

Yes but its sadly not good news...

Ive had the H16 for a month. The cable and adaptors work well in converting the AES output into something that feeds into G65.

The main issue which was confirmed to me this week is that the H16 only outputs at 48k.

Which is fine with Atmos but DTS-X / HD 24/96 or 24/192 are downsampled to 48k....

Ive currently have channels 1/2 of H16 connected to the AES input of my 518!

The SPDIF output of 518 is used for 2 channel output for H16 into D4 of G65 and the 518 AES output has an adaptor connected to for channel 1/2 of the multichannel digital input going into MD1.

This solved another issue because I was wrong in thinking you could use input D1 as both a 2 channel and be part of MD1.

Generally the H16 works well as an eARC extractor / Atmos decoder but there are other issues that should be fixed with an upcoming firmware release.

I have been offered full refund on H16.

95% of movies are in 48 kHz.

And I think MMHR without encryption is in 48 kHz too.
