I’m not personally a fan of the Kefs, and the new Meridian might well be better in the bass/overall.

It was only when multi speaker comparisons came into the comparison I thought it wasn’t a fair shot price-wise.

Has anyone compared to, e.g., the Naim range, and other competitors for the all-in-one market?

Finally got around to repairing the F80 (Blown fuse again) and so took it back through all the tracks I demo’d on the Ellipse and the difference on all was considerable!

The one thing though that strikes me about the F80 is how good it is, especially at the prices these typically go for. The Ellipse though is on another level and comfortably better by a good margin.

As there is no user manual online, can you shed any light on whether presets are possible?

It says it is compatible with the MSR2, but presumably any Meridian remote will work.

The one bit that stops me from replacing the F80 with something like this is the lack of an inbuilt radio. Yeah, I know, get with the times, but as a kitchen/casual unit, I don't want to always have to access a phone or tablet to interact with it.
A speakerlink surround version of this could be ineresting.

Yeah. This was something I loved about my Squeezebox Boom in conjunction with the now defunct mysqueezebox.com: the ability to program the numbered 1-6 preset buttons with different (albeit Internet) radio stations.

I was looking in the wrong location for the manual. It reveals no presets, which is a massive oversight in my view. I regularly jump between radio stations with the remote. I currently have a Bluesound node feeding and F80 for that purpose, so I can get internet radio into it. Had to get a learning remote to learn as many of the Meridian commands as I could (it didn’t want to take them all). The Bluesound, you can programme for any remote. I was hoping the Ellipse would be a clean one-box replacement. Oh well! Remotes seem to be underrated by manufacturers nowadays but they beat apps for some key functions.

My wife had the same comment.

I use Roon and as such am used to just opening the app and selecting what to listen to, my wife though loves the F80 for the fact it’s got a physical radio and CD player….she would however have a tape deck if she could.

I’d have to have a Tangent Tuner II or similar to keep her happy.

Seems that enough journalists have heard the Ellipse in order to give it an award but I haven’t seen many reviews.
Perhaps it’s a small category. EISA AWARD

It might just be a bit early for reviews as it's only recently been launched (Martins HiFi are having their product launch next week).
Perhaps the award will prompt some reviewers to take a look!

Manufacturers normally submit their products for review rather than reviewers asking manufacturers if they can have a given product for review.

Hi,

Meridian actually have an ad for the Ellipse in the new print issue of HiFi News magazine.
