Paul Rigby’s comparative review of the Chord PowerHaus M6 and a typical cheap power-block is worthy of your time to read.

Hi

Would totally agree, l went from the S6 to the M6 (having been persuaded by my local dealer to do so) and afterwards thanked him ,even though it cost me nearly £1K.

That was a really good deal at £1k, given that the PowerHaus M6 retails for £2k.

If £2k is considered an unreasonable price to pay, the ‘budget’ option is to add a Chord PowerAray to an existing mains socket or mains block, at £550.

Audiolab Power Block can be had for £99 or less (I think I got my last one for £85), fairly easy to find y cables or double gang cables for lower power equipment.

If looking for a full rack, the 6 version is £350ish but I have no experience with that one.

I remain very sceptical about mains power conditioners. If I have paid for a decent set of equipment - in my case DSP7200SE - then I would expect the designer and manufacturer to include within the power supply for the equipment the capability and means to reject DC offsets, ripple, fluctuations etc on the incoming mains supply. The science suggests that it is much better to do things that way and it is much cheaper and more efficient to do so.
It’s the same with Entreq ground boxes. Why will a wooden box full of sand make any difference to the route a current takes to earth?

If anyone can persuade me that this is more than snake oil I’m open to listening. But I am not persuaded by the scientific studies I have read that a properly designed power supply won’t already be doing the job a mains power conditioner purports to do. And I assume the power supplies in my Meridian equipment are properly designed.

Hi
Sadly most mains are ‘very dirty’ in many ways. l can recall a baby alarm from a house up the road affecting my mains🤔 l have proved more than once the benefit of clean mains to listeners who were unaware of the “tweek” but always aware of an immediate improvement including “sceptics”
Obviously the choice is yours but you should consider.

Before exchanging the supplied power cord on my Meridian Prime for an Audioquest NRG-X3 I would not have believed that such a change would improve on anything - but it did (and that was prior to adding quality USB Cables to my Prime).

I know from experience that Chord will supply your audio dealer with a PowerHaus M6 for you to try at home. No expenditure on your part - but it will prove if your scepticism is right or wrong.

I had the same assumption concerning my DSP5200SE, but was persuaded to try Shunyata. Perhaps it's due to the fact that these devices store a reserve of power -which they can deliver instantly beyond what my mains can do directly- that gives me decidedly better dynamics and a more solid bottom end in addition to great clarity. Fortunately a fellow hiker wanted to move up from his TritonV3 to their new Everest model, so I saved a few dollars.

I've seen the now-discontinued Denali marked even further down -and such a good deal that I bought one for my other Meridian system. I'm a believer.

Have you been tempted to upgrade from the standard/supplied mains cable? I’ve read that the Chord Epic Power Cable significantly improves the performance of the PowerHaus M6.
