They are held in very securely… I couldn’t remove mine with just fingers.
I was advised by an old sage to use a serving spoon that has a flat-ish rounded “fishtailed” small end.
Then using that small rounded end to act as leaver behind those cutout slots and slowly work the driver cover out … alternating between left and right side.
Once it started to release I switched to fingers on both sides for the final pull.
This worked but I must admit I was worried about damaging the cloth… but it’s really a matter of confidence.
