Yeah, that is a bit of a leap, I'm sure there are some that are not, but I do think that nearly everyone who gets high up has to be dishonest. Misleading is in the job title I'm afraid.

If you sit down and dissect pretty much every politician you will be able to find them twisting the truth, misleading people.

Doesn't matter what party, what country, they all have to tow the party line, and they are all human so will make mistakes, however big or small, and they will want to cover those mistakes up.

I'm sure most go in thinking they will change things, they think they will put into place what is needed, but the reality is they all make promises they simply can't keep, doesn't matter what level or what that promise is about.

If you go looking for mud I'm sure you can find it with any politician, that was my point.

Anyway, I sound like I'm defending Boris, haha.

I'm not, but I would genuinely prefer that bumbling buffoon back instead of Rishi. Rishi is the first time in politics I have feared for the future of our country and my children's future.
The thing is he will appease the central bankers and the press will be glowing over how he has appeased the markets, and when people hear it they will cheer him on, they will trust that he is doing what is best for them. But is he?

think about how that became a thing and why? Who gains from that?

Sure, but in your ready for Rishi post, there was only one question. The rest was all statements delivered as facts. Having met you on a number of occasions and enjoyed your company, I would suggest that you believe these statements are facts. Some of them are subjective though and what you think is right for the country might not be how other people feel or may even be inaccurate.

I didn't mean my readyforrishi post, I was talking about the saying "conspiracy theory" now being used to belittle or shut down any discussion that goes against the narrative.
It is getting used now all the time for so many subjects, it is like racist or transphobic, use those and the conversation ends, that is all you need to say if you don't want to answer.

Mind you. smile Reading my Ready4rishi post, I would say they were all facts apart from...

"He would be an absolute disaster for this country and would see the wealth divide increase to Dickensian levels, and the shift of power move from our own government to a global, non elected WEF, UN and WHO type system, and yet it seems many who would suffer most are cheering this on. "

... which is of course my opinion.

The rest of it was facts, but I get some would argue those things he did were 'needed'.

Whenever I say anything it is always going to come from a personal viewpoint, my take on things, my opinion, maybe that gets lost in discussions when written on forums like this.

I'm sure things might seem very rosy with Rishi in charge, he will definitely calm the markets as he is all about the markets.

I totally get that what I think might be bad for the country others may think is just what it needs too. Of course, always will be.

But that is why I hate the Labour vs Conservative arguments too, because I think we all want the same thing for the country, we all want better policing, NHS, schooling, economic stability etc. etc. The only real difference is how we think we achieve that.
It is why I hate seeing posts like "All the lefties just want to give all our money away to migrants." or "All tories just want to hoard the wealth and see everyone else go without." Both are as nonsensical as each other. grin

I hope I, and many others, are wrong about him, I hope he really does do good for UK Plc, but I fear he will take us in a direction that we will not like.

And I was called a conspiracy theorist when I said back in December that they would oust Boris and Rishi would be in Number 10 by Xmas next year. wink

I think I am just really jarred off with the way those who hold so much power over us all, are treating people more and more like something that has to be tolerated, and if we tolerate them then we will use them to make us more money.
And getting sick of invading countries when they won't do as we want them to do. We are going to end up eating ourselves if we are not careful.

Anyway, let's see what Rishi can bring to the table.

Here goes: grin
Quote
Sunak gave away your tax money for people to sit at home during Covid.
The government borrowed this money. Tax money is also business tax money.

Quote
He also gave away the taxes you had paid to corporations and individuals totalling billions of pounds during Covid. Much of which we never saw, but he is not asking for that money back.
He had proposed to increase corporation tax .

Quote
He is the one who has refused to give any tax breaks on gas, electricity or petrol/diesel, unlike his counterparts across Europe. While you suffer the pounds roll in.
I'm not suffering -

EU energy ministers have agreed to levy windfall taxes on energy companies’ profits, and to cut electricity use, but remain at loggerheads over proposals to cap the price of gas.

Meeting in Brussels on Friday, the bloc’s 27 energy ministers signed off on proposals to levy a “solidarity contribution” on fossil fuel producers that have benefited from soaring energy prices.

Revenues of renewable energy and nuclear power companies will be capped in response to the “unexpectedly large financial gains” made in recent months, as a result of their profits being linked to the price of expensive gas and coal, according to an EU statement.

The measures, which together could raise €140bn (£123bn) to help lower consumer bills and fund the switch to green energy across the EU, contrast with the British government’s approach. Liz Truss, the UK prime minister, has ruled out extending the £5bn energy tax introduced by the former chancellor Rishi Sunak.

Unlike the UK, the EU is also moving ahead with plans to reduce demand for energy. Ministers agreed on a voluntary target to cut electricity use by 10% and a mandatory energy savings target of 5% during peak hours. The mandatory peak hours target was deemed necessary to avoid power being simply moved from most to least efficient countries in the EU’s shared electricity market.

Quote
He has many investments in the green agenda, and has well and truly signed up to the WEF Great Reset, which is set to make billions if it goes ahead.
Subjective and unclear what is set to make billions.

Quote
He has been a terrible chancellor and has left the UK in a very, very scary financial position going forward.
Subjective.

Quote
He is super wealthy and has absolutely no understanding of what it is like to be a middle earner, a pensioner on even a modest pension, let alone someone at the bottom end of the income ladder.
Subjective - He may not have experienced these things personally but that isn't the only way to understand them let alone have absolutely no understanding.

Quote
It was said back in December 2021 when Boris refused to put the country into further lockdowns, like so many countries did, that Boris would have to go, and Sunak was their guy.
Said by who?

Quote
Sunak was calling for stricter restrictions, digital IDs etc. etc.
He has been going to the WEF and Davos events and hanging with the most powerful people on the planet, and there has been a campaign in place since December 2021 to get him into Number 10. Seems to be going very well.
This isn't factually incorrect, but if I'm reading it correctly you are linking the two things together which is subjective unless you have facts to back this up.

Quote
He even got Alex Wilks, ex Labor campaigner, to set up his www.ready4rishi.com domain, back in December 2021. It has taken this long with lots of historic wrong doings from Boris for the media to get him out. (just think about the drip feed of stories they have sat on all this time).
This has all been planned, he is a backstabbing, self serving elite who does not give a [censored] about this country and certainly doesn't give a [censored] about you.
Subjective

Quote
He would be an absolute disaster for this country and would see the wealth divide increase to Dickensian levels, and the shift of power move from our own government to a global, non elected WEF, UN and WHO type system, and yet it seems many who would suffer most are cheering this on.
Subjective.

Please people, before you cheer on Sunak, take a proper look into who he really is.

Quote
And yet, he will be in Number 10 before long. Already decided.
Not factually correct

Tom, I can't disagree with most of what you put.

The comment about the tax breaks and the energy cap, was just after he refused a cap of 26p/kw offered for 2 years by the energy companies. That was a huge mistake and was only briefly discussed at the time and now extremely hard to find info on. Many were asking why he turned that offer down, it was very strange.

There was a few people leaking arguments, scheming etc. from Number 10 over what Boris was and was not prepared to do, and it was said by many who seem to be in the know, as everything they have said has come to fruition, back in December that word was Boris was going to be ousted and Sunak would be replacing him no matter what. That Boris was no longer towing the line.

Now, as far as I can see Boris is cut from the same cloth as his father, and I think he is very much in the mindset of a stakeholder run future is where we should end up. But, if he did kcik back against throwing the UK into further lockdowns, going against our farmers etc. then it did make me change my view on him slightly, almost the best of a bad bunch.

Chris, I think you have hit the nail on the head there. Right now I feel like democracy has gone, we don't even seem to be pretending it exists any more. I'm feeling more and more powerless.

Tom, don't get me wrong, I'm comfortable too, life for me is not too shabby, but I want it to stay that way, and I don't think the direction we are moving is going to be any thing other than incredibly restrictive.

Looking back I sound like a loony, to be honest, when I started following certain people in finance and politics who were discussing all this a few years back, I thought they were all loonies too, so I understand anyone thinking the same of me btw. Hence why I was reluctant to post bits on here.
Most hours of the day I am simply working, looking at new toys and cars to buy and enjoying life. On here I sound like a political extremist, I promise you I'm not. Just someone who runs a business and employs people, so when decisions these lot make start to really affect me and my customers I start to shout a bit.

Hi Guy

I don't think you are an extremist or a looney and I doubt that anyone here does- I wouldn't have engaged with you if I didn't think you were a decent person !

Ironically a tax account for the super rich suggested to me that the wealthier the politician the better as it would be harder to buy them. Let's hope so in this case. Time will tell.

Cheers
Tom

I really enjoyed your "Here goes" critique earlier Tom.

Personally I'm pleased that Rishi is to be the new PM. Boris clones dislike him of course but perhaps he just saw the light before the rest of them did. The scenes of unity from Conservative MPs last night was heartening at least. Let's hope they can act like one party & actually get some much-needed legislation through Parliament.

So, a couple of days in.

More mention of moving to digital money.

And after saying he 100% supports Truss on removing the fracking ban, so we can start to bring energy back into our control, has reinstated the fracking ban and has said we are 100% aligned with Ursula Von Der Leyen with the Green Agenda.
Blimey, no one saw that coming. Haha

The "Fracking Ban" is of interest to a high proportion of the electorate. No wonder another re-evaluation of the voters threat.

I don't have any digital money, apart from my Meridian Systems, am I missing out?
