I just started a thread trying to do the same, made a cable up and no volume control.

You can run a 3.5mm jack to phono to the sub, set the headphone out to variable and not mute the speakers and run the sub analogue, or any sub for that matter.

Works fine, and running frequency sweeps it seems to be the correct gain as you move up and down the volume.

I bought Duncs AC200, 3200s and SW1600 off him a few months back, and had run my Rel with them until Friday, to be honest it was laziness that stopped me setting up the Merdian sub, but was bored Friday night and thought I would set it up, with no joy.

I have ordered a 5 pin din to see if that sorts it, but seeing this thread makes me think it will not. But anyway, if you want to put the sub in, try that, it sounds glorious.
