The new Sooloos App (June 2015) has a different iOS identifier ( iPhoneClient:// )

Thus the VirtualMSR remote App's settings in iOS need to be updated to enable it to fast App switch.

Meridian have released this tech note vMSR Settings Update instructions.

Thank you for the info Carl. I was wondering when they will resolve this.

Obvious (but fun) addition: when replacing ( iPhoneClient:// ) with ( Roon:// ) in the above procedure, the vMSR will fast switch to Roon as well.

As I don't use Sooloos or Roon I never opened this thread, until a fem minutes ago..

First I didn't understand how it should work, but then I found the setting "Show CoreControl button in vMSR.

After reading the post by RBM above that maybe it could be worth trying to write ipeng:// in the settings and try, and it worked! So, now I can switch to the iPeng-app for my Squezzeboxes by pressing the CoreControl button.

Has anyone had any trouble switching between the Sooloos App and the vMSR App ?

The switching works fine between the Apps on my partner’s iPad mini 3 but nothing happens on my iPad 6th Gen when trying to switch from the vMSR App. I guess sitting at iOS 12.5.3 on the iPad mini 3 versus iOS 14.6 on the iPad 6th Gen is the main reason.

I remembered when we had to edit a line discussed previously in the threads above but now there is just the option in Settings under Fast App Switching in the vMSR App which gives the option of “Show CoreControl button:”.

Oh well at least it is still working on iPad mini !

I think the vMSR app has not been updated in a while, of what I can see at least.
Last update was in 2014, for a bugfix for iOS8, so perhaps there are some incompatibilities with latest current iOS 14.6 ?

I hope vMSR will still receive updates someday, because I am also about to use it in the future, and will eventually also upgrade my current iPad 3 to a newer one someday..
Let's hope vMSR will then still be available in the future, and still exists.

I prefer the vMSR over the Meridian Control especially because of the ability to switch instantly between the vMSR App and the Meridian Sooloos App. Fortunately I still have had that ability on the iPad mini 3.

It’s a shame that Meridian don’t enhance their original Meridian Control App. Surely they could allow the App to have Custom Source labels to match the custom sources setup by Users on their equipment. Surely someone in-house has the capability to allow custom source editing !

Found this reference to the vMSR on Meridian’s website which is quite useful and tells you what you need to make the vMSR App work.
