Thank you for the advice and I have contacted Farada who propose the following to complete this work for me:

"We recommend using a GX16 input connector and GX16 (farad output) to GX16 cables, they are far better than the standardly used 5.5/2.5 barrel connectors. But we also can place a barrel connector of course for more flexibility."
I wonder if you have any comments on this proposal as I honestly have no idea what they are talking about (I'm a biochemist!). I have seen a Silver DC2 cable mentioned elsewhere but don't understand how this fits into the modification?
