For those interested, Meridian have published an obituary here - though the "time-line" of various events noted is not 100% accurate:

Allen Boothroyd obit

AB was apparently diagnosed with Prostate Cancer (PC) in 2018 and eventually succumbed to the disease earlier this year, even though he lived just a couple of miles from Addenbrookes, where he no doubt was treated. One assumes that the original diagnosis was that he had an advanced or aggressive cancer which had either spread when he was diagnosed or had accelerated very quickly.

(I have also been treated for PC at Addenbrookes and 10 years on, I am still here - hence my "understanding" of what might have happened).

If you are male and have a family history of PC, then it is important that you are tested regularly by a PSA blood test, which are free on request from your GP. Likewise, men over 50 yrs of age should also be PSA tested if you have a "weak stream", or you have to get up in the middle of the night for a toilet break, or when you get the urge to pee, you cannot.

regards
Tom
