OK, if we’re talking tearjerkers, check out “Hill of Little Shoes” Coope Boyes and Simpson. Written by the late Clive James. A life that never was.

I’ll give that a listen, thanks for the heads up.

On a similar note yet still very listenable and great music are a couple of albums from Mount Eerie called ‘a crow looked at me’ and ‘now only’ both written about the artists young wife dying of cancer. Incredibly moving, honest and sometimes hard to listen to but great passion and angst. Almost makes you feel like you shouldn’t be listening to it as it’s so personal...

Does anyone here have the newly released 'Later Years' Pink Floyd box set? This came out a few weeks ago.

I would be curious to see some reviews/feedback on the Pulse concert Blu-ray that is included. The concert is incredible, but we have been stuck with the DVD version all these years and the video quality is not very good.

The ad for this box set notes that the concert has been restored and re-edited. Did anyone get this and can comment on the video/audio quality?

I can’t comment on the video, but, the MQA/ remaster of Momentary Lapse I think is excellent. If they have taken as much care with the video (assuming master VT was good enough) then it could be well worth it.

Thanks Nick, this is indeed promising.

I may keep looking around online or wait to see if anyone else has it to see if I can find a review of the video/audio quality of the concert.

Cheers,
John

Hi there,

I got the 'Later Years' boxset though I havent finished going through it yet . 'Pulse' video quality is much better than previously though still in 4:3 ratio. Audio is also much better resolved. 'A Delicate Sound of Thunder' concert is superb as well in widescreen and with different backing singers offers a slightly different take on some old classics.

The cost of these sets is always going to sting a bit but I would have to say that , probably because Aubrey Powell was put in charge of the whole thing this set is much better assembled compared to 'The Early Years ', more like a nice coffee table book with fabulous music.

Thank you- this is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping to receive. As Dark Side is one of my favorite albums, I think I will go for it.

I highly recommend the ‘Bootleg’ version of Dark Side of the Moon by Dream Theater: it’s an excellent version.

Or ... for a great night out OzFloyd

Saw them a while ago and the sound quality was superb. David Gilmour hired to play at his 50th birthday bash.
