Many years ago, with my Meridian 551, 555, 506, and A500’s, playing Elgar’s ‘Coronation March’ was only truly fulfilling by the insertion of a borrowed Meridian 518 and 566: as without them, the low-level sound emanating from the Organ’s 32’ Bass Pipe could not be heard at all.

By comparison; today I’ve been listening to a November 2019 recording of Elgar’s ‘Coronation March’ (24/96) by the London Symphony Orchestra - conducted by Sir Colin Davis. Oh, my! Through my M6’s, that same 32’ Bass Pipe could almost rattle the fillings in your teeth! Deep and visceral.

Stunning.
