Just noticed your other photos - if I'm not mistaken, that's Shildon 150 - if so, I would have been in one of those grandstands.

really nice - how are you hiding your power for the speakers? Does it sound as good as it looks?
Cheers Tom

Remember the question "how's the mains supply?"...
Well not great is the answer. The back panel of one 8k is currently heading back to M to see if the whole thing has blown up.
If it has blown then there's no way I can afford to replace (est. £5k+) and just discovered Kenyan House insurance (all risks) doesn't actually cover all risks, it covers theft. So the only way I would get cover on the 8k's is if someone carries 120kg+ down a flight of stairs and into their van... we learn every day...
The TV is also dead (fried) and so far three AD88's have all bitten the dust.
We've done WITH UPS, we've done WITHOUT UPS, we've tried battery backup and generator.
In short, while living in Africa is the most amazing experience of my crazy life to date, there are definitely down sides, and mains power is one of them...
Heartbroken would be an understatement.

Don't throw your AD88s away (or anything else). Almost certainly repairable.

Don't throw your AD88s away (or anything else). Almost certainly repairable. Yup got them fixed now with slow blow capacitors that "re-correct" after an outage. Back panel from the 8kSE is now somewhere towards Huntingdon - let's see what that ends up costing me.

TV now repaired thanks to Philips (TP Vision) in the UK and their maintenance company. That one cost £78 which I imagine is going to be a bit fairer than what M will probably charge me...
