Looking forward to more updates on the complete list of MQA Master releases.

In the meantime, really excited that the latest Bruckner & Wagner release from Andris Nelsons on DG unfolds to 192kHz:

Andris Nelsons: Bruckner No. 4; Prelude Act I Lohengrin

The prelude to Lohengrin is, to my mind, still one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed, trumped perhaps only by Strauss in his 'Presentation of the Rose' scene.

I know the numbers aren't all but both Sony and DG now seem to be moving to a 192kHz sampling rate as standard, which has to be good news.

Other great classic recordings are emerging too e.g. the Szell 'Knaben Wunderhorn'.

Thanks Richard ! Our mystery Friend is doing a great job with the list it has been invaluable. But it’s not possible to catch everything. These sounds amazing and I wish I was home to fire them up. Nelson’s and Szell are both Top of the flight at what they do.

Doh! It seems like my favourite MQA album, Christine and the Queens: Chaleur Humaine (Deluxe Edition) has been removed from Tidal.
Any idea why? Is this a common occurrence?

The Babylon Berlin soundtrack album was available in MQA in the UK and now is not.

Very frustrating.

I've just bought Frank Sinatra's Watertown on CD, because it was pulled first from the UK and then from the US. It seems that the MQA is not even available for download purchase.

I see Dire Straits in MQA is finally coming out, it will be interesting to see how it sounds when it arrives (June I think).

I heard ages ago that it's had the full white glove treatment, including compensation for the (multiple) ADC and DAC stages during production.

Edit: Bob played it (or an early version of it) at Munich either last year or perhaps even two years ago. The report I got back was "it sounded like hi-res for the first time".

I was just looking on Tidal last night to see if DS had been updated to MQA. Will be interested to hear the white glove version!

I find this a fascinating example of what "white glove" might involve.

IIRC the Madonna album was also challenging but for different reasons.

There are some albums, like Love Over Gold and Brothers in Arms that don't ever achieve the performance that their legendary status would suggest. Hopefully these will come in time AND deliver better results.

FWIW - I would still really like the Metallica album too.

Nick

As I recall this was the stand out track at the MQA demonstration at Meridian West London and obviously chosen as it was so good, an Ella Fitzgerald track too if memory serves?
