Yes, heavenly is a great description.
If this doesn't turn the heads, ears and brains of the MQA dissenters nothing will.
Magical Quality Audio, bliss. Sincere thanks to Bob Stewart and all at Meridian, Warner Classics, also to Tidal for making this stunning experience possible.
This deserves 6 stars

Slava/Herbie doing the Don in MQA. Today I have been granted access to heaven... Surprised a MQA recommended music category has not started in The Hi Fi HT chat thread, which has been virtually ignored lately, especially with MQA out on Tidal.. Neglected and overgrown.

somebody started a HH tidal MQA playlist if memory serves, but may have been buried back a few pages as have not seen any updates on this topic. It may be a place to start.

Hi Ken,
As Hector also gushed, this is definitely a giant of the classical discography sounding better than all modern recordings after MQA delivers it in 96k. Best way to find it on Tidal is to search for the artist Mistislav Rostropovich - several hits will come up, you want the one that is ALL CAPS. Then it's a single album of just this work Don Quixote conducted by Herbert von Karajan and supported by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Album art is white background with an ink sketch of the Don striding his horse through a crowd. In Tidal desktop app it has an M icon next to its name that indicates it's MQA format.
While this is a work that rewards familiarity, do sample Variation VII which features a wind machine to simulate the sound of the winds; so perfectly captured on this record and well positioned in the sound image. Also Variation IV which features some crazy virtuosity in the Berlin strings towards the end.
Hope you enjoy it ! /bt

This deserves 6 stars Hector, Have you listened to any of the others? I'm stuck on repeat with this album for the time being! With one notable exception, the Beethoven Triple with Richter and Ostraikh ! OMG ! The clarity of the solo lines and the luminous tone of Richters piano part. EMI gave Karajan a fair heap of reverb during the 70s here much more definition to the tuttis but I still went -0.5 on the base and >1 balance to strike listening nirvana; I wanna take a sickie and fire up the system ... Best /bt

Hi Beng Ti Yes most of them If you are up to the challenge, try the Dutilleux, Lutoslawski and Jolivet 2 concertos. A completely different, but still an exceptional experience. I am convinced that the soloist, orchestra, conductor and the technicians involved intended the music to be heard this way. Just a shame that many did not live long enough to hear these wonderful MQA releases. Hector

All the above mentioned composers are dead, by the way. If you like them, you might like the music of a living classical composer even more!

Haha the significance of which is not lost on your callsign Ludwig !
Boulez just kicked it not too long ago (2016?)
Amongst the living, Jennifer Higdon, Osavo Golijov (love his Last Round), Eric Whitacre !, Esa Pekka Salonen.
