Thank you for showing your interest. I am in the process of checking whether M will join us in some way, which will affect a bit how we approach things. Your views will be welcome but I suggest you hold on until we have a clearer idea of what shape the day will take. With inputs, I'll try and put together some form of agenda and people's ideas for topics and direction will obviously inform this. I have a list of interested parties - people who would like to come if they can, but others, like you, who are prepared to contribute even if not in person. Of course, some editing will be needed: we have only set aside one day!

This post is just to let you all know that I have today mailed a letter to Mr Buchanan inviting him to the proposed gathering in Huntingdon. It has benefited from editing by my wife - the significance of which is obviously unknown to you but her years in HR, not to mention dealing with me, make her an ideal editor.

His response will, of course, be crucial: not in whether we have a meeting, but the mood of the meeting. Based on the thread about the millennials generation (covering many good points) I really hope he is willing to come.

I'd like to register my interest, but am curious as to HQ's attitude towards the HH's here, after all, the last such gathering (10 years or so ago) was at HQ, and we all were presented with a gift of a t-shirt and sundry other items, now I know there's been a bit of a recession, but surely HQ could invite us to the next big product reveal, after all, how many F80s (and other kit) did they sell on the back of our 2007 visit??

An update just to let you all know that it is now a week since Mr Buchanan should have got my letter (which included my email address) but I have not yet had a reply. Of course, he might be skiing, or even needing to clear his response with colleagues.

I'll continue to keep you posted.

Just to let you all know that John Buchanan has now made contact with me and we have had a cordial discussion by phone.

He is minded to come to our gathering, which is very welcome, but is wanting to understand how best he could contribute, which obviously will be influenced by what we are planning. Since I have made clear we are flexible at this stage, there is going to need to be a bit of iteration and I need to give things some thought before getting back to him. This will take me a few days (I think slowly) and I want to consult.

It happens that I am meeting, for the first time, some fellow Hikers this Friday and I will seek input from them in person. Meanwhile, I would welcome thoughts about the focus of the proposed event from those of you who have expressed an interest in coming (if the date is feasible for you).

May I recommend you do this via PMs please. You will have to trust me to distill suggestions in a sensible way, but I think that is probably better than having too much of a free-for-all at this early stage. I also wouldn't want any of you to be inhibited in your proposed ideas by the knowledge that they otherwise will be openly publicised.

Actually, I am intending, subject to your collective agreement (majority vote, not unanimity!), to set up a communication group of the interested attendees by using the PM system to establish a multilogue whereby all 28 of you can share thoughts and ideas in planning the event (I hope the software can cope with 28). My expectation is that there will be just a few themes, but I would rather ask than propose an agenda of just my ideas.

I am away for a couple of days and may not be able to respond to PMs straightaway. I will respond to any questions as soon as I can.

Wow - well done, thats really great news, looking forward to the timing of this since I will have to plan my travel...

Looking forward to this and hopefully get some directional answers from Meridian regarding the way forward for the 861 as well as integration with MQA and possibly MQA Mch.

33 people have expressed an interest in the proposed meeting in Huntingdon and, because I can't set up a private message group with more than 5 people, I have PMd all 33, 5 at a time, asking recipients to email me (my address is given in the PM) so I can get everyone's email address and communicate group-wise using email.

Thank you to all who have responded so far, but by no means all have done so. Will you please check your Private Messages and respond accordingly if you are indeed still interested in trying to attend.

I am also seeking inputs on what people would like to cover on the day (including any points for John Buchanan) and have had some good ideas sent to me so far, but please also include your thoughts for the day in your email to me.

And - something I should have asked in the original PM - please include your forum user name. I am struggling in some cases to decipher who is whom! Nick

I've been away from the forum for a while but thought I'd check back in.... Did anything happen about this proposed meeting? It sounded like a great idea & originally I put my name forward before thinking better of it!
