Thanks to Donron, I just received an 808.3 from him.

Fast shipping, smooth communication, good price. Connected the 808 to my 5200SL directly. I instantly regret buying 2 subs for extending the low bass of my 5200, the bass is so strong, the subs now becomes totally unnecessary.

Thanks to Colin Triggs for purchasing his 861v6 and arranging an upgrade slot to v8 for me! Even provided the dealer with a much cheaper option for insured shipping to the Netherlands.

Thanks Colin, i'm sure going to enjoy my purchase!

It's probably best to avoid buying off Steven01.

I bought a 558 off him a month or so ago, after delivering the amp the very next day it developed a fault with the protection circuit in 2 of the channels.
I notified the seller by email immediately and at first seemed willing to help.
Then within another day no contact and I've been left with a faulty 558 which presumably will cost an arm and a leg to fix.

I noticed the fault could be temporarily rectified by unplugging the protection circuit and then replugging the protection circuit.
The amp then works, but the next day the same fault reappears.
This would make selling the amp on the day feasible, knowing the fault isn't likely to reoccur until the next day.
What I also noticed is the side screws were very loose so the top has been off more than a few times.

I'm not out for a refund or anything else, I'll get it fixed one day.
Just thought I should at least warn others if you buy from this seller do not do it by cash (paypal etc. only) or you maybe left with a rather large repair bill.

Moderator comment:

The seller appears to have posted in his sale ad that the unit had recently been serviced.

I would persist with comms and try and find out where that was done. There could be a route to a solution that way.

Good luck.

Great to hear it has arrived (For info, I used myHermes, which was good value and easy to facilitate).

It was a pleasure to sell to Chris, quick and painless transaction.

Thanks Calen. I have to confess I was worried with the international shipment, thinking the unit might get damaged or lost! Happy it is in its new home, with many hours of usage to come!

Thanks to SteveR for a rather nice G91A-DAB. Great chap. One of the fun things about dealing with fellow hitchikers is a nice cup of tea, and a chance for a chat on the merits of favourite, and not-so, Meridian gear from the past (M30 vs M33).

The most frustrating part was getting it home, knowing I only had a couple of hours to set up before leaving on a business trip. One of the children has taken the spare DAB aerial. Look in the bumper Box of Cables (we all have one of those right?) to discover that I don't have that particular obscure cable I need. Cue rapid set of Amazon orders. However, now I'm back, all is set up, and a very nice sound is filling the living room.
