I agree that there are still a lot of good music out there, but still it is also aaaaloot of crap... The last decade there has been a increase of 510% in registered independent musicians. They of course reduce the income of the big artists and record labels. It would be natural to think that the large record companies want to stop streaming providers and get back the control of the releases.

And that is my point, back in the days there was fewer artists, bigger concerts, more artist branding and everything was controlled by a handful of record companies.

Today the biggest concerts are replaced with festivals like Tomorrowland, EDC Miami and similar. Just have a look at Highest Grossing Tours of All Time, none of the current artists are on this list (except two)... why is that?

When I for instance look at the Norwegian charts on Spotify, they are filled with short-living low quality tunes... they are popular for a very few weeks and then forgotten.
