I think Ian's statement that he was listening though the ID card was misleading, as Joel says I suspect he was referring to the new input card rather than the ID41, again clarity would be nice?
So, thus far we have no idea what this update is for.

Obviously, playing the DSD files via the USB Input is the most likely explanation... and indeed that's what I thought when I read Ian's first post.
However, follow up questions from Ludwig resulted in a very specific rebuttal of using the USB Input from Ian... and he specifically mentions streaming music from their MC600.
There seems no obvious way to stream music from an MC600 to an 818's USB... except perhaps via a SPDIF to USB convertor of some description... [or perhaps MC600 SPDIF Out to 818v3 SPDIF Input... even though I wonder if the SPDIF In is or will be 24/192 capable as USB IN is likely to be???]... questions, questions, questions.
And Ian was very definitive in saying that USB was not involved... hence my question about specific Sooloos and ID41 Firmware versions.
I think it's fair to say that Sooloos taking DSD files already was "surprising" to everyone here [in that Meridian hadn't said that was released as yet]... so maybe it's possible that a version of Sooloos combined with new Firmware on the 818v3's ID41 would enable DSD replay without the issues that Altus has described.
Specific answers to the above questions would help us all better understand what's happening here!!
Cheers

These files are being streamed via our internal network. Music is stored on the Media Core 600.
Not unclear at all..
I can't see where I have written USB anywhere...?
Note also I mentioned "playing lovely via the ID card within the 818v3..."
I also updated today to 2.477 (build 406), what a mistake
Every time I wanna play a title, it stopped at the first second and than the controller app looses connection to the MC200 for another second. After this the MC200 is back, but the title is stopped again. so I can't play music, not with the Control:Mac and not with the iPhone app.
Is there a way to reset the MC200 to factory settings?
Yes I turned it on and off yesterday and disconnected from the power overnight. But it's the same now.
Loading... then stopped and then the field is clear. After 1-3 seconds the MC200 returns with the default settings (volume on 65) all my titles are in queuing and stopped. If I click the play button its always the same.
Is there a way to reset to factory settings or to an older firmware?
It's not firmware, it's a whole operating system and application suite stored on the hard disc.
The only way to revert would be to restore from an earlier hard drive backup... which you probably will not have as its theoretically 'against license t&c'.
One for Meridian support I think, possibly via your local dealer.
Meridian owner since 1992 Prime & PSU, Focal Elear headphones, Roon (ROCK 8Gi5 NUC), Explorer 1 & 2, F80. 200/203, various Sonos (via Roon).
As of now I have not had any of the issues you noted after upgrading the other day.
