While I'm sympathetic to wanting info, and just about can't wait for more MQA news, the reality is very few companies put out detailed info before a product is actually available. There are lots of good reasons for this (competitive, financial, regulatory, flexibility to last minute learnings, internal company bandwidth focused on getting the products ready rather than spending the same resources on outreach communication, etc.).

The fact that a reporter over-reached, or over-speculated, or just plain messed up and revealed info that should been embargoed is a shame in that it whets our appetites before the company is ready to satisfy them!

Not really prepared to loose my autographed (Bob and Allen) 25 years front flap on 808 for the sake of a MQA sticker, even if it sounds better.

Anyone else fed up with the abysmal communication?

The one I posted earlier is v1.7 of the data sheet and it's the one that's posted in the media centre. It's not the latest. This 818v3 data sheet v1.10 is a later one. It lists DSD, but no lipsync or room correction as far as I can tell.

The 818 supports the playback of DSD sources via DSD-over-PCM (DoP) from a suitable media player, using the USB or S/PDIF coax inputs.
My understanding is that this has not changed.

You've absolutely no need to worry. Despite the older technology, the Signature flap will still outperform the MQA flap by a considerable margin. It's only those of us with the Plain flap that need to worry. In any event, the rule book will be torn up with the introduction of the next generation of Meridium-based superflaps "in the first quarter of 2016".

Can I pick you up on one point of detail? I'm not a technical person and I am not familiar with the exact printing process on the flap, but I don't think the MQA label could be fairly described as a mere "sticker".

The OP states in the first post and title that the product is available. Not unreasonable to expect some info I would say.

To confirm, as this seams to be an issue you for a few of you...
It's not a sticker grin

Enjoy your weekend!

Kindest,
Ian.

You are correct -

"The 818 supports the playback of DSD sources via DSD-over-PCM (DoP) from a suitable media player, using the USB or SPDIF coax inputs."

Cheers,
Ian.

When will Sooloos be able to send such data to ID40/ID41 cards?

I think John B mentioned this earlier in the year.

Thanks

I missed that. Good point!

I hadn't seen the John B quote but for me (and I suspect others) this is a very important point. Sending native DSD via Sooloos to ID40/ID41 is going to be much more convenient - otherwise we will need to run two systems.

I thought I had read somewhere that the cards were not sufficiently well specced to accept data at effectively 24/176 sampling rates. Can anyone elaborate?

I have plenty of DSD files here, playing lovely via the ID card within the 818v3.

Kindest,
Ian.
