Hi,

I like what VK was suggesting.

Qobuz have an annual subsrciption option of 200, that may take a little bit off the 20 month, to make it a bit sweeter. I'd also like the idea of being able to make some 'purchases' as part of the deal. Perhaps, they'll get signed up for MQA.

The revolution (squabble) has begun!

As recently suggested under the heading 'What could happen next?' by some online commentators, the 'Music Avengers' have started to flex their collective muscles by removing (some) of their music (in this case that nice Mr Zed's debut album) from rival streaming services (in this case Spot***) and made it only available on TIDAL.

Jay Z Removes 'Reasonable Doubt' Album From Spotify, Places It On Tidal

One possible way to get more people to sign up to TIDAL? Not sure where this might lead though? Could we have polarised sites in future that only have certain artists available and not others? (Taylor Swifts back catlogue recently removed from Spot*** WILL be available on TIDAL soon apparently). This could get very very messy indeed.

Blimey, it seems even Lily Allen is against TIDAL now! Lily Allen Fears Tidal Will Cripple The Music Industry. Who next?

What, those streaming services which lose money for every additional free subscriber, thereby reducing even further what the artists take home?

Yes I thought that comment poor, but the bigger point is surely the fragmentation of Artists music across multiple streaming offerings, streaming is good in principle but too many people in control have their own agendas.

Tidal needs to be different in the quality it offers, both in terms of sound and interface, having exclusive content is not the way forward.

She is right in what she says, I could pull down HD albums so quickly these days that it really just becomes a moral decision, having to subscribe to multiple services will just get folk not bothering at all.

Pirating is getting easier and easier, they need to be careful here.

Since Tidal is a common for Meridian and Roon, this seems like a job for some JZKerry diplomacy. Or be the godfather.

Unless Tidal starts adding content it looks as if I will have to also maintain a Rhapsody account or purchase some marginal titles to have access to the titles I occasionally play now.

Some frightening numbers can be found regarding TIDAL & Spotify's relative market share in TIDAL vs. Spotify and a bit more detail here Aspiro reports user numbers for January 2015

If I've read it correctly then TIDAL has 41K subscribers for HiFi streaming and another 460K for the standard offer which equals 500K vs. Spotify's 15,000K subscribers & 60,000K active users.(Yes that's 0.5 million vs 75 million).

You do the math! I hope Mr Zed and his mates have?

According to his (extremely active) FB page he still works for them.

He is also featured with Bob in the pictures where Tidal streamed MQA to a Meridian system.

Mr Zed strikes back! TIDAL now has 770K Subscribers. Good news up from 500K!

Changes at the top as well TIDAL CEO replaced. However as you can see they are also "streamlining resources to ensure talent is maximized to enhance the customer experience". That's good of them!

Also watched a live stream of a Jack White gig the other night. Good stuff! This is more like it.
