I don't feel it disingenuousness at all. MP3 you stream now against what you can have soon (MQA) A perfect demo of the leap available to streaming customers. Chris

Plus, and at the risk of sounding like a broken record(!), because of PCM compatibility MQA doesn't need consumer acceptance to be successful - it just needs the creators and distributors of music to get on board and change the music distribution landscape as a fait accompli.

I think that is a very good point, Steve.
If so, then those that don't care/don't believe can stay that way and not buy a decoder of some sort. I won't matter a jot to them. The content still comes as backwards compatible.
Those that do care/agree that it is better will by a decoder of some sort.
There are plenty of reasons why the labels will be onboard. We have seen them talk about it (Atlantic, Warner etc).
Same for the hardware folks (Onkyo, Arcam etc).
I don't think that this is head-in-the-sand, short-sighted or arrogant.

It must mean that 2.2 is close. Tidal only mention C15 but we could assume that means all Sooloos cores.

I had asked Tidal support when they would start streaming MQA files. The answer, FWIW, was "No plans to stream MQA files for now."

If they don't have licensing agreements in place for MQA content, they can't make any statements that would entice people to take up the service on the basis of MQA.

That is why I put in the FWIW. You can't jump to conclusions based on that response. It could be an abundance of caution. They don't want to kindle exaggerated expectations. As for the licensing, I suppose if there were an issue there it would be with the studios, not with Meridian, since they have already announced their partnership with Meridian. I'm not a lawyer so I'm not sure how that sort of thing gets negotiated.

They may well be waiting for Meridian to actually make available the Sooloos compatibility link and a reasonable number of MQA albums ready to be streamed. A big announcement of MQA compatibility but only half a dozen albums ready would rather spoil the fanfare.

I have spoken to TIDAL support who have simply said we must wait for the Sooloos 2.2 updates to be made available for download. Meridian support say it will be soon!
