The Tidal catalog is very impressive, I have already subscribed and listen on my Sonos. Very happy, does not have everything I like (some catalogs just don't license for streaming). It is NOT the same as browsing in a great CD/LP shop. Sadly, around here they have all gone out of business. Amazon shopping is not as satisfying and second hand sales can be very hit or miss.

even NYC has fewer and fewer CD shops - physical media is disappearing and curated playlists are probably as good as we are going to get in the future. Perhaps in the future we will be able to "find" similarly curated lists of artists and albums/songs from like-minded listeners (similar to last.fm's concept of "Neighbours") and get relevant suggestions that way. Two steps forward, two steps back.

Looking forward to the MQA fidelity increase but sadly and fondly looking back on shopping for CD's at Tower in Piccadilly Circus, Boston, Chicago, NYC, California, CT ... getting real recommendations from humans working in record/CD shops.
