I too listened to John Grant + BBC Phil from a Spotify recommendation. It is OK but don't think I will buy. Good but QOD did not Quite make me change my underwear. Hector

So as we await the final few hour before Meridians Big Reveal I will distract the speculation with the amazing Sam Lewis
We saw this guy in Norwich when he supported Martin Harley. He is a great singer songwriter and well worth seeing. If you like the sound of a Fender Telecaster you will just love the restrained playing here.
Sit back, skip the add, and enjoy, Chris

No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
If that don't make you smile, you need a hug badly... Chris

The audio clips slightly but that's the studios fault. It still showcases just how good these guys are, we sat a handshake away when they performed. It was a great night at the Bicycle club cafe Norwich.

Came across Damon Albarn on Jools Holland - I know, bit behind the times! Loved seeing 'Stylo' and 'Mr Tembo' and loved Albarn's passion for what he was doing.
Ended up buying his latest, 'Everday Robots'. Immediately regretted it - just too easy to press buy button and such impulses often disappointing.
Turns out that this is a tremendous record. Bit mordant but fabulous sound textures and melodies. If not too fanciful reminded me of Robert Wyatt - somehow very English, slightly whimsical, complex, surprising and beautiful sounds conjured from simple elements.
It takes a few listenings to get into. Should have been my secret Santa pressie - sorry RW.
A recent performance at The Little Rabbit Barn, as the notes say "any of 18 tracks could have been posted". They were just amazing if you like your Blues Rock played with some passion. Just imagine how this would sound with MQA!
I was there and I can tell you, it would sound amazing... Still this ain't to bad either...

based on an excellent Ludwig recommendation, I purchased 2 Blu-Rays, Gustav Mahler's Symphony No.2 and Symphony No.8, both conducted by Riccardo Chailly. excellent 2 channel 24/48 LPCM and 5.1 24/48 soundtracks that I extracted and imported (only the 2 channels!) into Sooloos.
Very high fidelity and involving, never having listening intently to Mahler before, very enjoyable. DSP 8K SE's were made to play this stuff with involving realism! Performances by the Gewandhaus Orchester zu Leipzig, recorded in 2011 at the International Mahler Festival in Leipzig.
Today's treat from me is Taimane Gardner I can't remember if I have posted this before, but I don't care. She is so good she need to be seen and heard.
We saw here perform at the 2014 Great Britain Ukulele Festival and she stole the show which was some achievement when you consider the other fantastic acts who performed.
So sit back and watch a talented young lady re define an instrument. If you ever are lucky enough to see her live, you will fully understand what I mean.
