Thanks for the replies. Ian: the ones I'd seen were on Ebuyer and Scan, not from resellers on Amazon. I'll take a punt, I think.

That's the one, you can even install drivers for use under OS X (though my Mac actually has a serial port and I never use it...)

I bought my full retail from ebuyer. At the time, they were not selling oem so looks a more official purchase now available. Now i see ebuyer have oem and not full retail. By looks of it, there is now about 50 difference so similar to Windows v8 pricing available at the time i bought but declined as there was no downgrade rights on W8 and needed W7.
Think the Amazon ones were mostly people recycling OEM licenses from 'scrapped' PC's.

Hi John, World of Computers in Cambridge are a good source for windows 7. I purchase all my licences and media for boot camp use here and have never had an issue. In your opening post you say that you are looking to control the HD621 with RS232. Do you mean configure? Cheers Tom

Quick update: last night I installed Windows 7 on the MacBook. It was all fairly smooth, but just took a long time by the time I had downloaded the drivers etc from Apple and then installed the Windows updates. There was no problem using the OEM copy of Windows (it was brand new, and sealed... I wouldn't like to have done it with an opened and possibly pre-registered copy).
Tonight I will install MConfig and see how that goes!

Strong recommendation for Parallels and Win 7/64. I've been using this combo for years on both USB and RS232 equipped Meridian kit with no issues. The Parallels drivers for the Mac are among the best.
