- It doesn't backup the whole database, for example the playlists. (Ronnie has posted a workaround for playlists, but this should not be necessary.) For those of us who use playlists a lot, this is a problem!
- It doesn't take account of or indicate deletions.
- You can't see what's backed up and what isn't.
I'm probably missing something.

Backup also can throw out "unexpected errors" and there is no visible user audit to understand the error.
There is no user enquiry available for what is in a backup folder or easy record of what is in a library.

Having just restored a large library I'll second this.
Knowing that five albums were missing was only due to my having taken a snapshot of before and compared it to the after.
BB King, REM, Bjork. Totally random. Bjork turned out to be corrupted, again, would have been good to know.
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

I am unfortunately in the process of recovering from a raid controller failure. I have even written in the wiki that raid isn't a backup, but guess what, my backup wasn't quite up to date and I lost data. Then there's the issue of restoring and getting all the duplicates appear, etc.
Like I say, the whole backup restore could do with a little work. The data loss is my fault, but the recovery process is 'tricky'.

Hi Greg This is probably not the thread to bring this up in, but I also gave on the the Backup and Restore processes within Sooloos as being reliable a long time ago
The lack of any Audit Trail in either the Backup or Restore routines left me without any faith in the procedure and then when I tried it, I ended out with errors
I would continue to strongly advocate Two Different Backup methods that have been mentioned previously
1) Create a "Clone" of the Hard Drive(s) in an MD600, TwinStore or Ensemble. This Clone disk can then be set aside and inserted into the Device in the event of any issues. Cloning a 3Tb Drive takes about 4-5 hours, which is a lot shorter than a Sooloos Backup of the same size, which could take 24-36 hours
2) Using a "Sync" program to Sync a "live" copy of the Sooloos Library Folders onto a NAS. This method has three distinct advantages
a) It has an Audit Trail to ensure that the Copy is a Complete Copy of all Albums in your Library. Likewise any "Restore" Sync would also have an Audit Trail to make sure all Albums are restored
b) The Sync can be Scheduled to happen Daily at a particular time (e.g. 3am) so that your Copy is always up to date......even more up to date than relying on the Manually initiated Sooloos Backup routine
c) The above Sync process is typically much faster than Sooloos' Backup and Restore processes which involves File Processing and Renaming, which can take quite some time. The main benefit here is that if one needs to recover from a "disaster' then the recovery takes far less time and one is without music for far less time as well
Something to consider, especially when you've now been exposed to the bleeding edge of the Sooloos Backup and Restore routines

I'd like an SSD option for the MC200. SSDs are getting large enough to provide entry-level Sooloos storage, and they would have the advantage of turning the MC200 into a completely silent system rather than a just-about-silent one.
Office: MacMini + Roon -> MS600 -> AR LS-9 -> M60s (1993 vintage) Home: [AppleTV -> HD621] + [Roon -> 218] -> G65 -> DSP5200HC + DSP5200s + DSP3200s Being a JAFA in Auckland, New Zealand

+1 on SSD; also to include the C15.

Further development of the iPad app to make it more useful for picking tracks, marking favourite albums and editing metadata. I am surprised that incremental improvements are not made in the same way that other apps are developed and released. I get excited every time the app icon shows an update has arrived!

I'm probably missing something. Good points here Ludwig I don't use playlists much so I didn't consider that

DSP amps. Amplifiers that are SpeakerLink controlled. The benefits would be sizable, as you could enjoy many of the benefits of Meridian tech, but expand to the much larger world of people who want to use their own speakers.
I get the concern over alienating their current DSP tech, but I believe it would significantly expand the addressable market.
I would add that network amps would also be great. All the above, but also with a network connection, specifically for Sooloos distribution.
861 pass through for 818. As the feeling is that the 818 tops the ID41, being able to run the ID41 for your mains. Probably a very small market, but certainly a halo product offering.
Primary: MD600, MS200 (SpeakerLink to AES), Trinnov ST-2, Ayre V6-xe, Salk SS8 3x LRC. Secondary: MC600 (whole house). Zone one: 568.2, G57, MS200, Spatial Hologram M2SE. Zone 2-6 (Awaiting assignment).

Sooloos endpoint in the DSP means best audio quality Discrete MCh Sooloos like DVD-A Low frequencies get directed over all speakers-better sound, less room influence User can hide presets
