So, with dBpa it seems that it will save to a local folder which is then seen as a back up ready for restore to the library. Perhaps that simply replaces the drag and drop/accept and import steps when using dBpa independently.
Will be interesting to test. I suspect it may speed things up when ripping many CD's.
For a single CD it may not be any different.

Using dBpoweramp with the Meridian plug in seems to allow the Metadata grooming that we've used dBpa for in the past.

However, it does seem to imply that a First Rip to the Sooloos Backup XML Format... and then a 2nd to FLAC format for "external" non-Sooloos libraries will be required.

IIRC one could use dBpa to rip to >1 format simultaneously.

True Nick, but the Meridian Plug In makes you use the "Add DSP Action", which in turn writes the ID3 Tags to an external XML file that the Sooloos Backup expects

And without trying it, I'm not sure how that might affect 2 Simultaneous Rips to Sooloos Backup and FLAC formats... it may well work simultaneously.

Agreed. Will be interesting to have a play with it.

By restoring a backup format album I expect it will preserve the album data fully as user defined. Not sure we ever got to the bottom of whether "prefer local meta" on import was 100% as expected.

Now... where do we get the plugin from?

Best early guesses at the 2-Bay QNAP Devices that appear compatible with the Meridian QPKG Plug In

Choices seem similar to the QNAP NAS's I detailed much earlier in this thread

QNAP 2-Bay Diskless - 269L

QNAP 2-bay Diskless - 269 Pro

Yes Nick I believe that to be the major step forward for Sooloos Users.

1) You do ALL your Grooming within dBpa as many here already do.

2) The Sooloos Import facility is completely Bypassed, thereby getting rid of all the hassles of trying to correspond your dBpa choices with those "enforced" by the AMG Metadata at the Sooloos Import stage.

3) Importing from a Sooloos Backup will simply Import that Album with whatever choices a User will have already made in dBpa.

SUMMARY
The "OLD Way": First Groom and Rip in dBpa... and then Groom a 2nd time on Import in to Sooloos, including Artist, Artwork etc., etc.

The "NEW Way": Groom and Rip in dBpa... Import to Sooloos by the Backup method, thus saving time at the previously required secondary Grooming Stage.

And the dBpa Plug In is apparently available by "downloading and install the latest version of DSP Effects" within dBpa.

Not at home, so cannot try it... and it may not be available quite yet... but worth a try for someone who has dBpa on a handy PC right now.
