Hi,

I used 3TB Seagate Barracuda XT ST33000651AS drives, in both TwinStore and MD600.

It might be worth checking the specification between those and you 3TB Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 7200 RPM.

Regards,
Carl

I used the ST3000DM001's and never managed to get the TwinStore to format them, in the end I used my MD600 to format them and then fitted them into the TwinStore where they were recognised and have worked ever since.

Hi,
Now I have returned the hard drives ST3000DM001 and exchanged them with the Seagate ST4000DM000 4TB 5900rpm, 64MB, SATA 6Gb/s, NCQ!
Same as Chi mounted.

Now they are happily formating in the TS, on the first run smile

Might be the "Smart Align" thing on the ST3000DM001 that does not go well with the TS, maybe?

Will post on my future progress!

OK most things work but I have some issues

I managed to mirror back my collection circa 900 GB to the newly formatted TS and have now circa 3 TB free space!

So far so good.

So I played a couple of songs and decided to hook up the rest of my things to the router... then an odd thing happened - all Sooloos things lost their IP addresses TwinStore, Source:One and the ID41 card.

So I rebooted them a couple of times, disconnected other things from the router (pulled my hair) and the all of a sudden the TwinStore and the Source:One are up and running again, but the ID41 card can't be seen from from either the Control:Mac or the iPad Core Control.

So now I can only get my library played through my Control:Mac.

How do I get the ID41 card back as a zone?

Any Ideas?

So after an other reboot of the 861 I got the ID41 zone back, but now Control:Mac can't see the TwinStore.

Plug everything Sooloos into a basic switch then it doesn't mater what you do with router (reboot etc), Sooloos will remain stable and isolated from any router hiccups. You don't want a fancy switch, just something reliable where multicast network packets are always passed to each port (like broadcast packets) by default ie a cheap unmanaged switch from someone like Netgear, TP Link etc.

Reason why Control:Mac cannot see Sooloos is I suspect you have gone back to wireless? If so, you need to check router for any multicast options (they are all different and use different terms) and make sure it is filtering multicast packets on wifi link as little as possible - some routers are very aggressive in their power saving strategy (with regard to how often it sends packets to battery powered devices) and part of this is to severely filter multicast packets which are essential for Sooloos device discovery.

Terms like multicast, beacon or DTIM interval are the sort of terms to look for.

+1 to that. I was dropping connections when I had my Sooloos stuff plugged into my Router/Modem and switch. I bought an 8 port D-Link switch for something like 50 USD on Amazon and have all my Sooloos gear plugged into that and the switch plugged into my Router/Modem. It's been rock solid ever since.

Does that means the folder restore worked OK? Anything to note or add to the process?

Rgds,
