Analogue only. Sounded pretty good, notwithstanding this glaring issue... grin

I've just had a browse through the newly relaunched Real World Store.

Some good things in there and available at good prices for Apple lossless.

This is encouraging.

Colin Towns's Mask Orchestra: Nowhere and Heaven.

Melodic, thoughtful jazz with a wide range of tempi, textures and instrumentation.

I noted this one down after hearing it on Radio 3 sometime in the early 1990's. Found the piece of paper last week and bought the (double) album on spec. Certainly well worth it and I'm only half-way through the second disc!

Just picked up a CD of John Farnham and Tom Jones together in concert.
Recorded live in Australia 1995. 1.00 in Cash converters.
What a great concert, with a fantastic version of "It's Not Unusual".
I had never heard of John Farnham before, but I am glad I stumbled on this.
After this F80 session, it's going into Sooloos.

Weather Report Remastered

I am now getting to geezer status as witnessesed by the fact I firmly believe Weather Report was one of the best bands, period. Even my jazz loving friends will argue with me about that (you know, the purists). I had all their stuff on LPs. Then got it on CD. So when I saw the two box sets from Columbia of remastered material I asked myself, "Is it really worth it?"

Well recently I was bored, couldn't find anything new I wanted to add to my collection, and decided to go for it. Having a listen now and have to say that it is well worth it if you are one those who appreciated WR's work. Shines with the 818 into 8000s.

Just got back from The Stables MK and a fantastic evening with Eve Selis. If you have the chance to see Eve and her band on her UK tour I highly recommend the experience. What a beautiful lady, in the same league as Bonnie Raitt, truly amazing.
Encore, Hallelujah from her latest album "Family Tree", brings the show to a poignant close.

Listening and enjoying the Moody Blues' 17 - disc marathon box set Timeless Flight

God! I miss the 60s wink Much more open to new sounds.

It features 11 CDs of selections from their (50 years as a band next year!) back catalogue including live concerts down the years and 3 DVD-Vs featuring 6 albums in 5.1 (Dolby and DTS only).

Surprised by how much of their stuff I actually already knew .

I keep coming back to Dido - Live at Brixton Academy, the CD that comes with the also excellent DVD. It's not what I would call a reference recording, but there's lots of clarity, judicious instrument separation in the mix, and great songs. Recommended.

+1 that DVD is terrific. Is a regular for us too. So are either of the Faithless DVDs -esp the Brixton gig as me and Mrs L were there. Terrific then and great to watch now.

If you like Lisa Gerrard (solo, Dead Can Dance or soundtracks like Gladiator) then she has just released her catalogue on line.

I couldn't resist the whole set for 60. And it is lossless. Utter bargain !!!

Olafur Arnalds - For Now I Am Winter

I can't stop listening to this. It is beautifully recorded, very easy on the ears. Predominantly acoustic, soft piano, stringed instruments played with amazing vulnerability. The emotion in these recordings is simply staggering.

The soundstage is huge, the audio rich and the music is captivating. I cannot recommend this album highly enough for the music but also the production.

We have just got in from seeing Red Sky July who are currently opening for Jools Holland.
Fans of Americana and contemporary country music and beautifull female harmonies would enjoy them a lot.

We saw them at The Little Rabbit barn with 80 attendees and feel very privileged to have been there.

Trivia:- Shelly McErlaine from Red Sky is the daughter of Brian Poole from the Tremelos, he and his wife were also in attendance tonight. Shelly's husband is Ally McErlaine the guitarist from The band "Texas".

Jakob Deist (the support act) is a very good singer songwriter and guitarist.

Both acts were excellent and I recommend a good listen.
