Shamefully, I didn't look at it. I was more excited by seeing Con on the 3100HC!

Something to look forward to when I get home tonight. (!)

I'm not 100% sure, since I did them all, but I'd bet it was restarting the 568.

Hi Rick sounds an interesting toy depending on cost. I have two rooms so guess I might need two of the interface units for ethernet connection No problem with iPads we have two.

Let me know when available and total damage please.

Many thanks
Best regards
Huw

PS Why is this not the MSR with iPod mode? One of my MSRs has that.

Hi Huw,
I've sent you a PM about the IP2SL boxes.

I'm not quite sure what you mean with your PS, could you explain further please?

Cheers,

Rick

So I have this older GC-100/12 and it runs with an older fimrware (2.0.8-12r2) and the global cache support confirmed the beacon (multicast I'm alive signal every 60 seconds) was added from version 3.0 so the vMSR does not detect it. I have tried entering the IP directly but it does not work. From a computer on the same network I am able to access the config page of the GC100 with internet explorer. Any idea if that could work?

(A firmware upgrade means returning the unit + $35 service charge)

The vMSR app is designed to use the iTach IP2SL and IP2SL-P devices. It recognises their beacons, but not the GC-100 beacons, so it won't be able to find the GC-100 for sure.

I do know that there are vMSR users out there who have successfully connected using GC-100 controllers however.

Certainly you will have to use a static IP, and I suspect the 'first' serial port, as there is no port selection in the vMSR.

Perhaps someone using GC-100 can chip in here?

Cheers,

Rick

Thanks Rick. Mine has a firmware 2.x so they do not even send beacon so it will not be detected for sure. The GC100 by default have static IP so I have entered it, plugged into serial 1, prayed, pressed a button but it did not work.

If someone managed to make this work, please let me know, thank you.

Hi,

What did the connection Icon show on vMSR?
Did it cycle yellow and then go green at all?

Press it to try to make the connection again if it's greyed out.

Could you switch on the 'debug window' in vMSR and see if that gives any clues?

Cheers,

Rick

It cycles yellow then goes grey. I did not see that debug window before, very useful, it says:
Will use static IP 10.0.1.69 (I can reach the config page of the GC100 using a browser on that IP)
Wifi network is reachable
Attempting connection to command socket at 10.0.1.69 to initialize the serial interface
Command socket connected to host at 10.0.1.69. Initialising now...
Initialisation was unsuccessful! Unexpected response was : "unknowncommand 14"
Command socket disconnected

I found online that the protocol might have changed between firmware 2.x and 3.x and although most products still work on old firmware some don't so well so maybe that is the issue. (For instance the firmware <3 do not send beacons at all, the customer service of global cache told me these were introduced in v 3.0)

Thank you
