That's good news.

Interesting to know that Meridian charged me close to $200 for the replacement part, never mind labour and shipping charges, or at least that is what they refunded me when I proved they had replaced the power supply unnecessarily in my G91.

I just want to say how useful this series of posts have been in helping me revive my G08 CD Player - and almost 6 years after the original posts were made!

Thank you so much to JohnSWimer for both describing the process and the amazing photos of the dead power supply - which enabled me to confirm that the PSU in my G08 had fried.

The PSU in my G08 looked EXACTLY like John's photos - the underside of the circuit board beneath the transformer was discolored - only obvious when I knew what to look for - and the yellow tape around said transformer was burnt.

I was able to source a new PSU from Allied Electronics in Forth Worth, TX and for less than $60 all-in, my G08 once again sounds as good as new.

Thank you John!

Update in 2021. I had another G98 with the same problem. The new part number I ordered is LFVLT40-3200 from Online Components. The LF stands for Lead Free. They have stock. If I have any trouble, you;'ll see it here.
