I get that, but it would be nice to be able to choose what goes in the right hand colum. Albums by the same artist is default, it would be good to be able to customize things a little more. just an idea, Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
Also the text, buttons and images on the left hand side in the album screen information is pretty awful. Needs optimising for retina it would seem.
Also just noticed that the text at bottom of each album cover on album grid view is not crisp either. I guess the text is being manipulated as a bitmap which does not take into account the 2x scaling factor of retina display.
Meridian owner since 1992 Prime & PSU, Focal Elear headphones, Roon (ROCK 8Gi5 NUC), Explorer 1 & 2, F80. 200/203, various Sonos (via Roon).
Just a thought and it may have been covered, is there a way to associate albums without making them into sets? Example, I have John Fogerty live an album that would be usefull to associate with "Creedance Clearwater Revival". This would be a usefull future feature. Cheers, Chris
Chris,
Although this might not be useful to you, in the Advanced_Sooloos_Collection_Guide, in the Control:10/15 Album browser, you can choose to override the Artists search, and replace it with another band or artist, so if would want to associate J. Fogerty with CCR, you can. But I am not sure if you can do that with the iPad / ControlMac/PC interface.
I have quite a few examples of artists that I might want to override, such as "Will Oldham" sorted as "Bonnie Prince Billy", or "SF Seals" sorted as "Barbara Manning".
IMHO this is the great thing about Sooloos, it was designed by owners of large, eclectic collections of albums, and it shows through - albums are sorted by release date, you can filter/swim by genre, etc. The "sorted as" is another example of this mastery.

I imported a few HDtrack albums. The import finds the title, I add the image of 500 x 500 pixels or even larger. There is only 1 albumbitmap that shows on the main page, but all have images when I select a album.
I assume I do something wrong. Is there a setting I overlooked?
If you are saying that the album art does not appear on the browse screen but appears when you select the album details, then all you need to do is reboot your core

Just to complete the loop on the CoverResize issues mentioned in previous threads.......
There appear to be 3 Screens in the new App that uses CoverArt......these are
1) The Queue Screen
2) The Album Info screen, which lists the Tracks on the Album......as well as other Album Metadata
3) The much seen "Browse" Library Grid.......which uses a 5 by 3 Album Grid in Landscape and 4 by 4 Grid in Portrait
Screens 1 and 2 above use the "Cover.jpg" images......which is good, as the User has control over those image files
However, as recently suspected, the Album Grid screen is using the CoverResize 170 jpg file.........and as covered recently, this 170 Pixel image is not being changed after the Main Artwork is Updated........so some Users may see some unexpected Album Covers when they begin using the App........especially for Albums where you may have replaced the AMG cover with a "ReIssue" cover (which makes the problem easier to spot)
It's important to remember that this is NOT a "Bug" in the iPad app.......it's Design is correct in that it's requesting a smaller memory footprint image........the problem is that the main Sooloos Core is not automatically changing the ReSize files after the Main Artwork has been edited by the User
Hopefully Meridian will sort out the Resize issue soon enough
I may have missed a reference to this in other comments but Meridian appear to have sorted this out in v2.348.
This issue has NOT been rectified in the recent update
None of the 170, 256 or 512 Pixel Images that are stored in each Album's Folder have been changed in the recent update
These 170, 256 and 512 Pixel Images are created when the Album is originally Ripped or Imported........and the error is that these Images are not updated when a User changes the CoverArt to a larger or different version
Therefore, the iPad app, which uses the 170 Pixel CoverArt in the 5 by 3 Browse Screen........will still show the "incorrect" Album cover even after the User has updated it
Sorry Russ but Simply change any Album Cover to a different Album Cover (many Albums have a choice of Two or more options).......choose a Cover that is easily recognized as being different from the original
Any User can even try this temporarily
The iPad Browse screen will continue to use the Old 170 Pixel Image.......in spite of you having updated it
I also asked Carl and Nick NCPL to duplicate this behavior on their systems, and the behaviour is exactly the same
Also demonstrated to Meridian's Roland Morcom at the Meridian Bristol event on the Demo System in place there
Likewise, a simple look at the Debug Screen's HTML Album Listing confirms the fact that the 170, 256 and 512 Pixel versions are Never changed after the initial Rip / Import
So, this is a known and easily duplicated issue for those wishing to investigate
Many users wish to use High Res or "Re_Issue" or "Remastered" Album covers for their Album Covers.......and make the necessary changes in Control:PC / Mac
But they then end out being Confused & Frustrated when the changes they have made never find their way into the iPad App Browse screen
