Is 861v6 with ID40 and MD600 a completely different price range to Linn/Bryston?

Perhaps more relevant a G61SL/MS600/MD600 is then? (Yoda grammar..) smile

Hi Crion,

Matters not, one speak Yoda but lost message perhaps? blush

I could have done a trade-in of my 861v4 into a 861v6 and paid almost 2x what I did moving to the Bryston / Linn. To which a Yoda need ask: Are we talking price or listening experience?

I have owned:
  • Meridian 606 / 200 (years)
  • Meridian 561 (months) -> 568 (years) / 596
  • Meridian 861v4 (years)/ 598DP / Squeezebox Transporter

The music quality of the Linn Akurate DS is the best I have experienced in my system. The Linn engineers are also very good at what they do, just like the Meridian engineers. In addition, I continue to use my current music server - open source (Linux), user upgradeable redundant storage (ZFS).

The Bryston SP3 has an excellent analogue pre-amp. Very clean and with bypass only the volume is touched.

I did have a G series processor in my system (dealer loaner) while my 861 was out for a visit to the home country a couple of years back. It was not as good in my opinion.
