Well you can do that just using the 818 in its zone. Still no reason to connect it to the 861 as the 861 zone will still use the ID40 card.

Now that I think about it I don't think you can even use the 861's MRC in the 818 zone.

It would have been nice if the 818 had had MRC. Keep meaning to try the room correction extension for SB.

I was told by my very good M dealer that he seriously doubts they would implement MRC in any of their two channel equipmentt. Somehow it is not consistent with their philosophy.

I have an 818 connected to an 861 through speakerlink. I am using the 818 as a reference Sooloos end point. My Media Core 200 is connected to the ID41 card in the 818. I do that because I listen in 7.1 Trifield which has MRC running on every channel. Trust me, it works really well!!

So you mean you can run the speakers off the 861 but use the ID41 as the Sooloos endpoint? Hmm

Yes, the speakers are connected to the 861. Just think of the 861 as receiving an input of the highest possible quality from the 818.

I bought it because it is the reference Sooloos end point. The ID41 is key, but there are other elements that make this a reference end point. If I were two channel only and did not need MRC this is definitely the way to go.
