Don't want to hijack the thread, it's already pretty long. Does anyone knows what is the exact change with DSP3100? I use three of them with an old 561. Changelog shows the following: Aux legend becomes SLS and VCR3 legend becomes Aux Aux/SLS source defaults to 4C comms type Optional support for M80 remote Apodising upsample filter You should upgrade for the Apodizing filters.
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Wow thanks, I was searching for the firmware but forgot about the M firmware page! Well this is a long wait but if it's true then I will be very happy user! Now got to find one dealer in France that will carry it or do it myself.

Be aware that some, not all, DSP3100's have proved problematic with the upgrade. The cause is under investigation by Meridian, I understand.

I don't have any indication of the exact nature, just that some, not all, have had problems and that Meridian are investigating. I don't know whether that means they just wouldn't accept the load, or that they 'bricked'. I'm waiting for more info.

It is thankfully nearly impossible to permanently 'brick' most (all?) Meridian devices simply by performing a firmware update. I managed it, but only as a result of a controller board failure which required a return trip to Meridian to fix.
Normally, firmware updates are handled by the BIOS, which is independent of the firmware, so is always available no matter how screwed the firmware update is.
If a device does not complete an update resulting in the unit being 'bricked', repeatedly retrying to the update should eventually result in the unit being restored to a good state.
Meridian owner since 1992 Prime & PSU, Focal Elear headphones, Roon (ROCK 8Gi5 NUC), Explorer 1 & 2, F80. 200/203, various Sonos (via Roon).

I think the only time anyone ever bricked anything was because it was already essentially bricked due to some hardware failure. It can take a few passes sometimes due to latency on some computers.

Be aware that some, not all, DSP3100's have proved problematic with the upgrade. The cause is under investigation by Meridian, I understand. It appears to be an issue with very few DSP3100 and DSP3100HC. I've not seen a problem with any other DSP speakers. Not specific to this particular firmware, but with their ability to accept firmware updates in general. We're asking our DSP3100 owners just to wait a little until we have a remedy from Meridian. Cheers, Rick

I emailed Meridian and posted here a week ago about the unsatisfactory options I was facing after communicating with with several premium partners regarding installation of the firmware update in my G68.
I wanted to add a postscript here noting that I received a call from Meridian a short while after sending them my complaint. I chatted with the Meridian representative for about 20 minutes and learned, among other things, that they had this week been conducting firmware installation training sessions with each of the three dealers I contacted. The Meridian representative intervened at his own suggestion with the original dealer I had repeatedly contacted to no avail - whose shop is by far the most geographically convenient - to make sure I was hooked up with the right staff there.
Both the Meridian rep and the dealer traightforwardly used the occasion of our conversations to pitch Sooloos to me. As many others have noted, it was plainly evident to me through this that Meridian is working intently to strengthen its relationship with its premium partners and their sales via the funneling of Meridian customers back into the showrooms with the firmware updates. I'm not a businessperson but this strikes me as pretty sensible.
This being said, it took me weeks to resolve the "how and by whom" to achieve a firmware update installation. Many others Hitchhikers are posting regarding unreasonable options they are facing. But my experience showed me that Meridian and their partners are working on ironing out the kinks in the new firmware distribution system in my area and I do appreciate Meridian's responsiveness to my situation once I contacted them.

I would echo Bruce's response here, saying I had a very similar response.
Thanks, Chris
