Hi Carl,
That is a rubbish response from your local dealer, Im astonished by it. I suggest you contact one of the Meridian dealers that posts on this forum explain your situation and ask them if they can help with the supply of the firmware?
I'm sure they will be able to help as they are keen to promote the brand and foster long team relationships with their clients.
Regards, Carl

Name and shame please. There is no where to hide with such nonsense. Send back to manufacturer....my ar**!!
Meridian should be made aware of advice given like that as they need to look in to it.

I guess Im fortunate that my dealer seems to be ahead of the curve. They were fully knowledgeable on the upgrade details and gave the option of either bringing the 861 to them where they would install the upgrade at no charge or they would come to my residence for a $90.00 service charge. I was able to make an appointment the next day and since I like a free upgrade I didnt mind tearing my system apart.

Hi,
Before considering that action which is not without risk and would be much more expencive if you blow up the pannels. Have you contacted any Meridian dealers local or the ones on this forum about supplying the firmware?
Regards, Carl Thanks for your thoughts Carl. I have just come back from a very interesting Meridian open day at SSAV in Sevenoaks. The official response on taking just the panels in for updating is that it is technically feasible but that Meridian advise their dealers not to do it, as there could be a question of blame if there was a problem on plugging them back in when I get home and having a problem. I have contacted some local dealers who are all about an hours drive from me and quotes are from 150 to 450 to do a home install. The dearest would also like to charge me 100 if I take the equipment to him for updating. Assuming two hours travelling and an hour on site the more reasonable quotes are probably about the going service rate in the South East and I certainly don't expect dealers to go charging about the countryside for nothing; but without wishing to appear unduly mean I would rather not pay for something that could be achieved in the past simply and without charge, if it can be avoided. Taking my G68 to a dealer for an update would be relatively painless (but not if also charged 100), but shifting my DSP5500s is a major undertaking, especially as that they are spiked and in good position in the room. When I originally brought them home a piece of the bitumen damping fell off, so moving the whole cabinet is also not without risk. The idea of taking off the electronics panels struck me as a possible solution, but maybe not one of my better ideas! A quick thanks also to all those giving feedback, on the other thread, on how the new firmware affects sound quality; all useful stuff in helping me decide whether or not to go ahead or give this update a pass.

So...
My experience so far has been a bit disappointing. I went on the Meridian website and got a response that they received my information.
Then they sent an email to contact my dealer.
So I sent an email to the first dealer and haven't heard back in over a week.
Later I was sent another email from Meridian that said my info had been sent to a dealer, but no contact from last week.
The (third) dealer said they would help, but their technician thought that the firmware could be downloaded from the website. I have not heard back in a few days. I'm about to try the (fourth) dealer.
Anyone other suggestions so my G68 can be up and running with it before Thanksgiving?
Thanks, Brian
