But is it not the dealer's job to inform customers about upgrades? Just because people do not know about something they might reasonably expect the company or dealers to tell them about does not mean they do not care. Compare this with Oppo, who build updates alerts into their BD players via ethernet connection. I don't know what the dealers job is with regard to Meridian as I'm not privy to their terms. However, it seems a missed opportunity if customer data is captured by the manufacturer i.e. product warranty registration information isn't used directly or via the dealers (assuming the appropriate data protection consent with the later). Just like registering an interest in the "upgrade" on M's website triggers a dealer lead. Maybe M could extend their current registration process in some way to capture more M customers with products outside warranty for use with dealers. Many companies provide an option to "keep me updated " if you register. Avi

Yes, I quite agree. At shows Meridian hand out cards for listeners to provide details, including contact details, but I don't know if this data is ever acted on. There are so many easy and cheap ways for Meridian to cultivate their customers and encourage sales.

Meridian Premium partners need to be exactly that - Premium Partners, not "hifi" dealers of old. Meridian kit is very expensive and, under the new dealer model, proactive after-sales support should now be the norm and, within reason, included in the price.

I'd also be interested if anyone with the new firmware has any issues reinstalling previous firmware (if available) either to compare or as a preference ?

In case someone hasn't mentioned it but the Sooloos firmware updates are sent automatically(ish) and just require the user to click OK. So comparing to Oppo etc., maybe not so bad.
Older equipment, well I'm sure 6K owners think Santa's come early (I do). So in the round (and trying to forget Trifield) thanks M and hopefully a sign of things to come (M80 replacement suggestions etc.).

(I'm actually usually the curmudgeon, so that says something as well).

My nearest premium partner still hasn't emailed me back from last week. Never dealt with them before, unlikely to given the lack of response. I've made other arrangements.
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

If not for anything else, this firmware issue has been useful in distinguishing those dealers that are prepared to go the extra mile to help their customers and those that arent. All useful info for future reference.
Main system - Sources (Kodi-HTPC, Vero 4k, FireTV, Sat) into Trinnov Altitude 32 (8-16) (+Roon), Trinnov Amplitude 8 amp & Vivid Audio (Giya G3, V1.5) and REL Stentor III speakers. Others: F80 + Raspberry Pi and other Pi systems.

Hi Clff,
I agree and suspect it's not so accidental either. You will probably find a correlation between that and the dealers that have been most supportive here on HH. If anyone is having trouble getting a response from their local dealer then you might want to talk to Richard, Rick, Gerry etc.
Cheers
Rgds, Nick

Rick, can you please look into this? Thanks in advance. I don't think we'll see any new firmware for the 568.2mm.
My understanding is that it doesn't have the internal resources (which are available in the 861v4) to handle the apodising upsampling.
Rick Another 568.2 owner here who has patiently waited for the broken Trifield to be fixed. I agree with the others who have posted that expecting an apodising update is unrealistic, but to fob off fixing the broken Trifield on the basis that the current firmware is beta is not acceptable to me, especially given the following message relayed by you last year: A communication from Meridian to dealers a couple of months ago when I pressed them for an update:
"The Trifield width bug fix is in development however, testing new versions of software across our entire range of current Surround Controllers as well as those back to 568.2 and even earlier 861`s is a big project not only in testing that the fix works, but also making sure that nothing else has been broken in the implementation of the code. This must be incorporated around other tasks - we have many important projects, the Trifield width fix being one of them."
I have discussed this with them more recently and it has not been forgotten. Rick
